Unless your dealer has a R3039 on the lot they can't get them anymore or so I'm told. I think the S4QL-D is essentially their "de-tuned" version because the 4047 has the S4QL engine as well. I'm sure someone smarter will correct me if I'm wrong.

That makes sense. They have a r3039 but can not get the r3039h. I was wondering how the 4041 and the 4047 had the same code s4ql but different HP rating.
Thanks for the reply.

GManBart I see you have an 8N listed in your signature how does the R4047 compare size wise?? I know it has a lot more power and weight. Reason I ask is I have a 56 600 series and like the size but don't want to go much bigger if any.

You know, it's interesting, but if you remove the FEL, the two are very similar in size. The wheelbase is nearly identical, and the overall length is 12-15" longer for the LS, but I'm not sure how much of that is the grill guard. They are similar in width, but the LS is taller, and has much larger tires, so it looks way bigger. In this pic you can get an idea...the Massey is bigger than the LS (around 5" longer wheelbase, much longer hood, etc).

Thanks. The R4041 seems similar size to my Ford 640 though I have a grille guard on mine. I signed the paperwork on a new R4041 so I'll give a comparison to my 640 when I pick it up. I'm having them put a detent kit on one of te rear remotes. BTW nice tractors.

Ok the S4L2 was the 3039 engine the S4QL was the larger 4041/4047 4 cylinder engine if I am remembering right. The S4Q2 engine according to the Mitsubishi web site is the tier 4 equivalent 4 cylinder engine for the 4041/4047. Depending on the Yxxxxxxxx number after the S4Q2 it comes as a 33.5HP, a 46.4HP, or a 48.5HP engine. This has been my question, if Mitsubishi has a tier 4 compliant engine why did LS go to the Shibaura engine?

Engine Series Inquiry

If you notice, the mitsu engines LS was using in previous model years and currently in the G series; are all labeled interm tier 4. Last years documentation shows them as tier 3. It is the same engine. They made the switch as someone else stated due to cost. They are allowed to sell up to 50% of interm tier 4 models if they were made in 2013. Same for the phase in period starting in 2014. Here is a chart put out by the EPA and the emission standards that must be met. No I didn't see that (interim) on the status column, or at least I didn't pay any attention to it. Is that what it means then that is real good information. I guess it's something like Dodge, that have always used Cummins diesels and still do in their 3/4 and 1 tons but when they put the diesel in the new 1/2 ton they when with a different manufacturer because fiat owns the company and the engine was already in production but same thing to save money.
