Not trying to get chased down a rabbit hole on this...but almost all of the poor English, lack of grammar etc. etc...that is common here are things that should have been learned in elementary and middle schools...

IMO if someone claims to actually have some "higher education" (post k-12) and they still make word form etc. errors...it is a fairly good assumption they are fibbing about said "higher education"

Nobody ever made it through English 101 by not knowing the difference between your, you're or there, their and they're etc...etc...personally I find it very hard to take someone that does not know the difference seriously...maybe it's just a peeve of mine but when reading a post with improper word forms it is like bells and whistles going off...

Poor spelling is another issue entirely and is insignificant IMO...

\Yes you need to get yourself down that hole pretty quick. Your being a complete @@s and we don't care that you know the difference between to, too and two.

Don't include me in this rant. I can appreciate peoples skills including those i lack. I see no problem in trying to add to my skills. I had a horrible time learning to read and write, i can thank my Mother for the attention she gave me in helping me over come these deficits. I don't begrudge people's ability to express their thoughts in a concise and succinct manner. I still have problems reading and writing and my spelling skills are masked by a spell checker. I applaud those with the gift for language as I applaud those with technical skills. I don't condone /pines ability to be, in what my opinion, tactless and i may feel he does himself a disservice in getting his idea across, but he does express the reality that many people with not look beyond your use of language and that it does help people to understand you, nothing wrong with that.

When I was 18, I worked for a lumber company in my home town, which was a white-collar suburb of New York City.
Pay was not very good at the "yard", but there was a way to supplement our meager paychecks.
About once a month the railroad would leave a boxcar full of random length 2-by lumber on the spur and the lumber company paid JR to unload it.

Now, JR couldn't read or write. He was big, spoke very slowly, and I used to think he was kinda dumb.
JR would hire some of the yard workers to help him unload the boxcars and I got my chance to make some extra cash on hot summer's day.
By the time that box car was empty, I had a whole different opinion of JR.

Unloading random length lumber from a boxcar is awkward and getting it all stacked into "units" of the same length boards without handling everything 5 times requires some very good planning and on-the-fly thinking. JR never hesitated during the off-load and handled problems that came up with a calm, level headed logic that made me kind of jealous.

So, after that, I never really put too much stock in someone's reading or writing skills because I saw that thinking that way might get in the way of me learning something from someone who knew something that I didn't.

i'm drawn back to this thread like a moth to the flame. i cannot believe the arrogance and general douchiness by some folks who frequent a forum dedicated to tractors, home/farm projects and general hands-on kinda stuff.

good grief. mods, locks this asinine thread already.

The Grammar police need to abandon this ship and go to a NASA forum to find out that they are ignorant too. It is really an insult to those who come here to share knowledge and experience for some book smart know it all to discount said knowledge and experience because someone doesn't know a preposition from a noun.

This thread has really taken a turn...

I think the op came here with a reasonable gripe about posts that are hard to understand because of no paragraph breaks, no punctuation, and just generally unclear thoughts. Some here have taken that as asking for perfect grammar and spelling. I don't think that was his intent. I agree, with a lot of the comments on here, no need to be perfect but at least be clear and understandable.
