Is the massey 2605 good for a beef farm

If it fits just by folding it down I wouldn't remove it. When our son is loading round bales with the L3940 I always make sure he has the ROPS up and his seatbelt is on. We've already lost one son, not to a tractor accident, but if the ROPS would happen to save him one day that would be fine with us.

Looking at the tractor, if the folded ROPS on the 2600 series won't fit in your barn, you're not going to have much luck driving it in there--it folds not far above the seat back.

I don't know if you're still looking at the 2605, but my dad just bought a 2615, and I put a tape measure to it. With the ROPS folded, the height is 70"--but the height of the exhaust stack is still 88", so that's your limiting factor unless you do a custom exhaust. (It's held on with a u-bolt, so I wouldn't think it would be that expensive or difficult to do.)

With the ROPS folded, the tractor will fit under obstructions where I wouldn't be able to drive it (ignoring the exhaust stack), but I didn't think to put a tape measure to the height difference between the steering wheel and folded ROPS height.

How you guys like the 2615? I have the older cousin 461 and absolutely love it.

He hasn't had it long enough to form a solid opinion (it might be up to 3 hours on the clock), but we both like it quite a bit. It's still a bit tight (the shifter needs to loosen up just a bit), and I'm not fond of the lawyer infestation (why do I need to have both the transmission and range selector in neutral to start the tractor?), but it has very good power, is easy to handle, and is easy to mount and dismount. My dad is getting up there in years, so those last two are kind of important.

He has owned plenty of tractors, but this is the first brand new tractor my dad ever bought, and I think the only tractor my grandfather bought new was when he came back from WWII, so it's not like either of us has a good baseline for what to expect from such a beast, but it sure seems like a sweet machine.
