WOW! You convinced me;). I seen your pictures earlier, so I ran out to Wal-Mart thank God they are open 24-hours:cool:, and bought myself a 120-volt Mig machine. Headed out to the shop now to play with it, will report back later with the results.

Is that the Melt It Glue welder?

But a lot of people with 120v welders would be learning lot more (how to use their machines) if there wasn't a 'gag order' on them. Even more if some very experienced pros would actually use the machines the members HAVE, and help them.

I agree, as long as people know their limits... an atv hitch, fine. Just so people aren't "learning" on an underpowered machine welding a trailer hitch to pull their skidsteer down the expessway at 70 mph.

Good job Soto.

Is it insulting to say a Mig weld is cold lapped? If so you best not weld for a living. When every weld you make your job is attached to it.;)
More dumb comments form you. "best not weld for a living" what an idiot you are. And you broadcast it for the whole world to see. You dont' know anything about me so you would be wise to keep your mouth shut instead of opening it and making a fool of yourself running around like some internet weld inspector.

Spare us you lecture about how none of us can weld for a living like you. I've done plenty of welding in my life and quite frankly it is not that difficult to learn how to do.

You constantly derail threads and turn them into more of you ego stroking and insults about how you would bet your life on a weld and how you are so great at passing weld tests. You made a completely fool of yourself on the last thread where an older woman was asking about getting a basic welder and you did nothing but bash 110 volt welders the whole time telling her about how she needed a 220 v welder so she could do some real work. Yea a 70 year old woman needs a huge welder. Great advice there genius. The best part is that you admitted you dont' have experience with 110v welders so you had no idea what you were even talking about.

This thread is the same thing. You post pictures that have nothing to do with the OP simply to stroke you ego or show off and put down the OP. It's pathetic to watch. You need to get a life. Listing every welding machine and saw?? that you own in your sig is yet another indication that you are nothing but a 1 trick pony with poor social skills who is desperate for attention so you post pics of your welds constantly even if they have nothing to do with the topic you still post them. Keep up the great work.

Yep. I do as well.
Yet another predictable response from you that has nothing to do with the OP and everything to do with stroking your own ego and insulting other people. Get a life.

WOW! OK I can see I'm out gunned here with you and Sodo's vast welding knowledge. You two field all the welding question here for a while.;)

I don't understand all the skepticism. :confused2:

After all, it's only an ATV hitch. And I don't think he'll be pulling his tractor behind it on the highway.
Besides, I think his weld looks pretty good and will probably suit his purpose fine.

You think so huh? Why don't you join WeldingWeb, and inform those guys of your expertise with 120-volt Mig welders?;)
WeldingWeb - Welding forum for pros and enthusiasts

You playing nice on this website Shield Arc?

I only joined 'cause I have a nice old ugly WD Allis Chalmers, I like any welding forum, and to poke you with a stick on occasion even if you do weld better than me :dance1::cool2:

It's ok, I got time to catch up :)

I like the cool emoticons on this website - weldingweb needs some of these:
:newhere::mur::talktothehand::punch::stirthepot::hissyfit::soapbox:

Hey OP - your hitch looks nice - definitely the heaviest thing I'd ever weld with that 120v welder but looks like it'll work good for ATV use.

(I still have a little 120v mig on the shelf - but I never seem to use it after I got bigger stuff - but I hate to sell anything - lol)

The only real limitation with the 120 volt machines is the duty cycle.

The smaller 220 volt machines have the same limitation.

With preheat, there are few limits.

It's more about the weldor, than the welder.

I dont understand why so many farmers own a $200 welder and have a half million dollars in farm equipment. Claiming they use whats at hand to get the job done, and then argue it to death. Must not be a priority for them shieldarc. Let em wallow in there foolishness. You can kill a grizzly bear with a 22 as well. I wouldnt recomend making it a part of daily procedure. Sooner or later youre gonna get f'd. Buy the right equipment is what the man is saying, and those machines top out on 1/8 and i dont give a crap what anyone says. Can i get away with it if i had to....yes i can, but i wouldnt argue like chowderhead that its fine for daily practice. Same argument all the time. 40grand worth of toys and trailers laying around and a $200 welder. "That should hold for a bit, let me grind it a little more tho...looks like shlt" Same old story.
