Anyone care to recommend running boards for my new PU?

It really depends on what you use them for and if you just want a bling.

Mine are GO Industries Rugged Steps that are used for a work / farm / hunting truck. Mud falls right through, easy to clean, never slippery. You can stand on them with both feet.

Had Line-X Xtra applied.

I really like those, what year is your truck and where did you get them? I have an 06 Tundra and not as many offer steps for it as others.

Mine is a 2010 Tundra DC. Sorry, this style step starts in 2007 for Toyota.

My Westin running boards have been on since 2003. Stainless- still look good and are solid.

Here in Spokane, WA the city sprays some kind of chemicals on the streets that will cause the standard running board brackets to "melt" right off. It is their winter deicer/snow removal efforts. Gave my son my 2003 Toyota Tundra with standard running boards and they dropped off half way through the second winter. I had the P/U out here in the country for four years with no problems.
I can only imagine what the chemicals are doing to the rest of a vehicles frame.

If you have dogs, some running boards can be leg breakers.

Brine water aka pickle juice is what it is. They have been using that stuff here about 4 years now. It makes a mess.

Yes - Roger, that stuff must be pretty strong. I've seen highway dept tanker trucks spraying the stuff on the freeway ( I-90) also. Glad they do not use it on the county roads - yet. I still find that reasonable driving in the winter gets the job done.
