Here are pictures of a couple of items I built on my patio using pavers. These are very easy to build. It's pretty much like using legos. It doesn't take long and the end product is a nice addition to an outdoor area.

No mortar, just liquid nails construction adhesive between courses.

When pavers are wet and get really hot chunks may fly.

Any part in contact with fire should be fire brick.

Hmmm.....Exploding pavers, must have firebrick etc......This went a little overly dramatic in my opinion. I'm not too worried. I had a paver firepit at my previous residence. Have had some rip roaring fires and never a problem.
