2014 Hay Season

   / 2014 Hay Season #81
I was looking for a 2basket when my dealer told me about the Sitrex and priced the 4basket. I planned on getting the manual but went ahead and paid the little extra for Hyd.,$5240 is what final price was the manual was 4800.

Similar pricing here. We paid $4850 for the manual. I would have liked to get the hydo, but the manual raises and lowers easily by hand, so it's not too big of a deal. I'll be out running it in the hay we cut yesterday shortly. Unfortunately, not much sun today, so probably won't get any baling done.

Yeah!Yeah! I have alot more left, welcome to come. This time shouldnt be getting wet, start cutting tomorrow. Did talk to the service guy and he told me back down on my pressure when baling that hay that has been wet and the windrows so tall. Ordering all new belts monday, less the one already did. $257 for the shorts and $264 for the longs....

why didnt you go ahead and change all the baler belts when the 1st belt broke.down tiome when hay is ready to bale is costly.

Just bought the one new cause didnt wont to unroll anymore hay to find and have to rebale it. Now that i have broke 3 others and had them spliced just going to go ahead and replace the 5 with new and have some spares. Baler is only 3yrs old and baled 400 bales, shouldnt be needing belts yet. The damage was already done on the hay,i rather mess up my old belts to get the this rolled for them and head home...

KNOCK ON WOOD. My JD has baled 18,000 bales on original belts, baled yesterday and hopefully today when I get my tractors AC leak repaired. Also I don't change pressure on my belts regardless of windrow size or if hay been rained on.

All he could come up with is hay damp and i was running to quick. I havent ever messed with pressure in 3 yrs and bales tight, but havent had conditions like this either. Who knows may have been my fault but its for the books now.

Did they break at the fasteners or somewhere along the belts?
You might be making your rolls a little too big, which over time stretches the belts but usually not to the breaking point.
The rolls you have pictured are nicely formed. Do you make or have you made a lot of rolls in the past that were uneven, bigger around on one side than the other?
This can put extra pressure on the outer belts which is what you pictured as broken this time.
Do you have a splicing kit so you can repair your own in the field if they are not in too bad of shape or have a roll of belting and a splicing tool so you can make your own belts. Sometimes that is cheaper. Having a spare or two is certainly a good idea to make a field repair and miss the next coming storm.

I was thinking you had shown one of those fancy Vermeer balers with the belts completely enclosed in the past?
Haven't looked at many of your recent pictures till the break, so am way behind.
Not much time for TBN up here now with all the excess rain making every dry moment golden.
