code here is R-13 in a crawl space should I increase the R value ? I have until this Tuesday to make a decision. $300 upgrade to R-15, upwards from there as it increases. Batts the spray would be 1/2 the cost of the entire job.

I can't imagine you'd notice any difference between R-13 & R-15.

Always felt the more the better. Spray in type would be better if you can stand the cost and will not have to worry about the batts falling down later on. Just my opinion mind you

In a crawl space I would go for spray foam.
The rodents sure like wool batts as nesting sites.

Hey, neighbor... go for the most you can afford. Do it once, do it right...

I had my floor insulation pulled out last Nov. It was just a moisture magnet and rat/mice haven. Moisture levels in the crawl space dropped to an excellent 15-16% and we noticed no colder floors this cold winter then before (well, cold for us).

Good luck!.

Nope, no insulation for the last year - this is my now previously owned house, it got sold a couple weeks ago.

I have several layers of 6 and 10 mil plastic installed. It's a very dry crawl space, which is what I wanted.
