Does anyone know where I can get an exploded diagram for an old vicker hydraulic pump? It is off a shawnee loader that is mounted to my NAA. The pump drools a pretty good stream of fluid from around the shaft when it runs. The shaft appears to have a bearing behind a snap ring but I can't see much of a seal in there. I was just hoping to get picture of what is in there before start tearing into it. 20140708_162821.jpg20140708_162845.jpg

Skylark,

I work at Eaton (Vickers) in the Hydraulics Division. Might be able to help you out if you can find a pump number. Below is an image capture from our parts listing site.

I can't see for sure but there should be a model code that starts with something like V20 or 25V, etc. if you can find this Vickers is very good about having exploded view documentation. One problem maybe if this was proprietary to Ford then documentation could be harder to find if not totally impossible.

Are there any other numbers besides the patent numbers on the pump housing? Vickers is very good at providing exploded views of their products. One potential problem could be if this pump was proprietary to Ford then you may not be able to get any info.

Suspect that is an older V10 or V20 but wouldn't want to bet the farm on that. Below is a link to an example of the V20.

Sky, if you look just below the fitting on that flat part of the pump [this is a pump, correct? your not using it as a motor?] you will see the part #. In the picture I can see a 2 but cannot make out any other ###'s. These pumps are very tough and can be resealed or rebuilt cheaply. Lots of aftermarket stuff out there. Heck the last few repair kits I have purchased from Eaton [Vickers] have been from overseas. CJ

Searched that number and it doesn't show up as a valid number where I am allowed to look so maybe oldnslo is right about it being proprietary to Ford????

Thanks. A google search doesn't yield anything with the correct number. This document http://www.sophtech.net/uploads/files/pumps/v200 overhaul manual.pdf has pictures that look very similar to what i have on the bench. On mine the inlet and outlet are opposite of each other. but the diagram on page 9 seems to indicate that the rear plate can be spun around into any orientation effectively moving the outlet. It looks like the seal is inboard from the outer shaft bearing.
Mainly I'm concerned that once I have it apart I can get the right parts to get it back together....

More generally when I assemble this should I pack it with petroleum jelly (or similar) to get a good prime or will it self prime?

I'd be surprised if you could not get rebuild parts for such a widely used pump. and I'd guess, based on the overhaul manual above, that it is a self priming vane pump. If you need help finding a source for replacement seals I could find a contact person in Vickers to help. I'm on the hose side of the business but we use some of the same distributors they have for pumps.

I did some calling around locally. Basically it is an old part number of the current V20 confirmed by at least 2 sources. There is a local 1 man shop that will rebuild it for at most 2 hours of shop time and $28 for a seal kit. (total of $158.00) probably less in time but that is the high estimate. The big unknown is the hard parts and how quickly they add up to the cost of an equivalent replacement.

Now that I have the diagram I will probably open it up myself...then go from there.

Thanks for your help.
