now it is surely a slow night in beantown where this could possibly be of interest, but in the timeworn
TBN credo, and possibly to document my demise....:D
the big ripper seems to be doing ok, two coats of tri something antibiotic cream which thankfully I pack in my ditty bag, and another tonight and that should do it. My SIL almost didn't get out of intensive care with a small cut to her hand while gardening. Serious blood poisoning. Mother Nature must be respected.
And tamed with an FEL...
I think some of those vines I ripped off me had Stihl tags on them...

never again will I go in there without a long sleeve shirt on. The rest of me is just fine...LL Bean heavy khaki pants came through flawlessly, not one pull. Probably didn't bother with my pants when there clearly was a softer target available. live and learn.

and since I can't just give you a scar picture...well, what am I going to do with a custom built in gun rack?
not going to get a lot of use in this household...wonder what else would fit in there other than shelves...

been a long day evidenced by posting stupid inane drivel. There I said it.

Good Evening. 2005, light rain, 74F with 90% humidity. Our high was only 90F, then thunderstorms cooled it down. Forecast low of 72F with 25% chance of thunderstorms tonight.

Late this morning after I had finished with my lifting, I thought I was still up to more exercise. So I decided to walk down to the river to do some swimming. As soon as I got out on the road it started raining. But since I was going to get wet swimming, so I kept on going. I did 25 minutes of actual swimming, which is pretty good for me. It wasn't too crowded. I only saw two parties in kayaks, and one family in a boat. And the real thunderstorms didn't blow in until I was safely back home.

Drew, hope your scar is all you keep from your woods ramble. Do be careful. I went in the river once before briar scratches on my legs had fully healed, and I ended up with blood poisoning. It is not a pretty thing. We call those bamboo vines, 'wait a minute' vines. They will bring you to a full stop, that is for sure. But if you ever get lost in the woods and need food, the roots can be sliced up and boiled like potatoes.

I usually wear a long sleeve shirt, cloth gloves, and a big hat when I work outside. A little hot sometimes, but beats getting ripped up and sunburned.

Low 80's today in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Having a good visit with Mom.

I used to get turned around in my own woods when we first bought it. Now I can recognize areas, individual trees and other features and know about where I am. When the sun is blocked it sure is easy to wander in big circles in unfamiliar or thickly vegetated territory. I used a compass a good bit when I was clearing out trails with the tractor.

Besides getting a person back home, GPS units are nice for connecting two or more known points (way points) with reasonably straight lines and a getting a good approximation of the distance between points.

47 right now and a high of 79 today....looks like a nice day ahead of us.

I'm up early because I went to bed early... Funny how that works...

Drew - If you can dismount that gun case, I'd be interested in buying it from you...

UPDATE: So the interview was more like a meeting of old friends. The best job of my life was was when I was at DARPA, and these guys were the contractor doing the research & development project I was running... They still hold me in high esteem, and it appears "I have fans in high places" who also said good things about me. But no job offer yet. They did tantalize me with discussions about potential spots they thought I could be very helpful to them (I agreed with them as well). It all secret squirrel R & D stuff for the DOD and Intelligence Community, so I'd be happy as a pig in poo working it... I'm gonna keep bugging them until they hire me... The IBM gig I was lining up in second place decided not to continue talking to me (their loss) so I really do not have a fallback yet.

On to other topics...

One big Iced coffee down & the pot just finished brewing so a giant mug so hot coffee is next. I need to mow & bush hog, but today and tomorrow are stormy, good thing I still have pages of crap to write for my divorce interrogatories to keep me busy. Ive got a very frustrating electrical issue on my little Ranger snowplow truck that I simply cannot troubleshoot by myself (There is a loose wire or bay relay in the fuel pump a/b switch circuit so truck won't start) because I need to be in two or 3 places at same time... I've got plenty to do if I could just do it...

Be well all,
David

Drinking second cup of coffee. 53° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 80° with sunny skies all day. Back to PT this morning. Got the cellar doors primed. Couple coats of paint today will finish that job.
Drew, nice gun cabinet. I would modify it and put shelves in place of the gun rack. Guns in our house belong in a safe.
David, good luck on the continuing job search.
Good Morning All.

65 and foggy. Should see 86 today. Although it stayed mostly cloudy and drizzled one time, we missed yesterday's rain, so looking forward to Monday's chances. More power washing today and mowing.

Good Morning. 0835, overcast, 73F with 95% humidity. Forecast high of 89F with 80% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, and a low of 72F tonight.

I have my morning workout and breakfast behind me, and the garden awaits. But there isn't too much to pick these days. Mostly cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and peppers. Or salad, as I like to call it. My 2nd planting of peas are blooming, but it will be a while longer on the new cucumbers, squash, green beans and corn.

Since it's Friday, I will be going in to work at 1300. I have a full weekend for a change. A birthday party and a wedding lockout tonight, the wedding tomorrow, and a baby shower and something else on Sunday.

Congratulations on your anniversary Bob. 50 years is a big deal. I'm not quite halfway there. But {if Margie doesn't kill me ;)} I hope to make it one day.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Best of luck David. I loved to visit DARPA, back when I was on projects. We also had Mitre guys in house.

Be safe
