Making money with land

Start with 200 trees this year, 200 next year, 200 the following year... Now your first year tress are producing. Keep adding trees every year until you hit the number that you want / can handle.

that's still about $4000 per year for the trees; plus site prep, fertilizer, stakes and support system, spray material... Also some type of deer fence is almost a must if you want the trees to survive.

I'm trying to start a part time venture on a 2 1/2 acre field I just had reclaimed; next year I'll plant about 3000 strawberries, plus as many asparagus roots... in 2016 hopefully I'll also be adding the dwarf fruit trees. My goal is to have 1 acre of fruit trees, 1/2 acre asparagus and 1/2 acre of strawberries for retirement income when I turn 60 in 2019.

Its a possibility ... and a good way to ramp up production .

that's still 600 trees and costs outlay ... and 3-4 years before you might see some return on the investment ...

we don't know his financial position ...

i grow it for the market. have been for at least 10 years. compared to almost all the other things i grow garlic requires very little labor. it sells readily at the farmers market for $8/lb. if you don't want to go to the farmers market you can find a coop to buy it for less money. if you want to grow something that requires no labor then grow couch potatoes.

There we go, I knew someone around here grew it for profit... just didn't know it was you ;) Care to talk a bit about what it? How much you grow, planting, harvesting etc?

That might work. Any idea on the income? Where do you market your product?

Of course they do, I understand that. Not trying to be snippy here, but I've met a lot of indoor dope growers, and it's a bit hard to hear those guys, who are usually 20-30 years old and drive $50k trucks and carry wads of cash around call themselves "farmers". I farm vegetables. In the soil. Under the sun. By hand. Those guys can call themselves growers, horticulturalists, etc. But they aren't farmers.

I'm sorry but to me, a Wal-Mart sits on the land too. Does that count as making money off the land??

So by your definition are these people farming?

Plant zone in grass lakes is 5 b. have a look at Haskap Berry.
Cold hardy to minus 47c and frost tolerant to minus 8 c..

Very nice fruit sweet and tangy and tough to kill a plant.
University of Saskatchewan fruit department has been playing with the berry for over 12 years now.
Google Dr Bob Bors and you will find a ton of info.
Visit our site Haskapbc.com and seeded you have any questions I'll try to help.

Our crop is 3 years old and we are now tripling our orchard.
