Yes, I started with a 35cc 021 for years as "Harry Homeowner in suburbia". Then about 2010 I won a 62CC saw and started doing some CSM.

Hope this will just fit the bill with what work I have now. One day, maybe I can run across a 660 for the few bigger jobs. I'm new to the CAD and I'm starting to understand this addiction.

That's what I said and got a 660 off ebay for $500, it was much better at CSM.

Ideally I would like to scale back to a 20" on the 361, get a 261 with a 16" or 18", then a 660 with maybe a 32" for real big stuff, though it would probably get used the least.

Have you opened up the muffler?

Be careful of getting addicted, I went from the 021 to the JD CS62, two 660's and an 088 ( http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/chainsaws/257299-i-couldnt-believe-088-450-a.html?highlight=#post2998122 ) and a Woodmizer LT10. SWMBO finally said no more.

Mike Sounds like your in the same boat i was with my 361. Sure it would cut (painfully) slow with a 25" bar but if your using the full length it does it about the same speed a 290 does cutting with a 20" bar. Which was unacceptable for me. also the saw was too nose heavy with the 25". The 660 is perfectly balanced (like an anchor) with a 25" bar it sits nice and level holding the handle. A 32" would be a good alternate length for bigger stuff i got the dealer to throw in the 36" for the price of the 25" I cut a lot with the full 36" i stack up cord wood in a rack and cut it all at once. The dogs on the 660 are at least an inch longer than the 660 so the 25" bar is really more like 22.5-23" can't remember exactly. If it didn't already have the 20" bar and 4 or 5 loops for the MS361 i'd probably go with a 16" or 18" bar. After you use a 660 in descent sized wood you'll never want to cut any wood bigger than 12-14" with your 361 again. Have i helped convince you that you need a bigger saw yet? :laughing:

Same here on the 880 or even a 090 :thumbsup: although i don't think I'd ever want to use it the 660 weighs enough for me and we don't have many trees in Michigan that would need that big of a saw but it sure would look cool with a 59" bar and .404 chain

I just became the owner of an almost new Stihl 270. Brother in law had it and due to shoulder problems, couldn't pull the starter cord. I got it for $110. It came with an 18" bar and I immediately bought a 20" to go on it. It is supposed to handle up to a 22" bar according to the Stihl dealer where I bought the bar and chain but he didn't have a 22" in stock. I think the 20" is going to be big enough to cut most of my trees. I have a couple of oaks to cut that were lightning struck. That will be my first chore with the Stihl. It goes in the stable with my Husky 260 with 18" bar and a Homelite with 16" I use for limbing.

We think about the same Dave, I get a bigger saw if it takes more than 10 seconds to cut a piece of firewood. The limit for me with the 034 super is probably around 14-16". I have a 20" on the 034, I think a 18" bar would be a good bar for this saw. I think the dogs on the 660 are about 2" long. You need to get a MS170, then you would have 30, 60, and 90cc saws, the new 3 saw plan

It would work better than the 2 saw plan (50cc and 70cc). I have the 5 saw plan, 30cc, 50cc, 60cc, 70cc, and 90cc.
