2013 Kubota L3800 HST
I am getting a new Land Pride 72" rotary cutter to use behond my Kubota L3800. I should have it soon. I am in central WI and have to give a quote to our city for a areaof about 8 acres to be mowed off. About half is a realatively smoothe field with little to know stones or rough areas. The other half has soenm bigger rocks here and there and a few rough areas. Nothing to major really, just areas to take my time and watch close. Then, there is a stretch of high grass on the side of a fairly steep hill around part of the perimeter of the flat field areas. I figured originally around 650-$700. Does that sound about right? I have to go slow in the rougher half and on the hill, but can go a little quicker on the other half thats in better shape. Let me know what you think. I have a couple pictures of the hill, and will insert them, if I can figure out how.

Welcome to the forum from River Falls! Sounds like a good price to me. Might be a little higher than some landowners would pay, but figure your time and value of your equipment and if they won't pay what you're worth, don't do the job.

You're doing this for the city? If so don't cut them any deals. Stick it to them!

I wish I could get that kind of money to bush hog.

With that said, if they're willing to pay that much then pour it to 'em!

I figured 1 acre per hour with the rougher half that contains soem larger rocks and ruts, etc averaged with the 1/2 that appears to be flat without obstructions. Then a little extra for the hill as I have to go up and down. No chance will I even attempt to go sideways on that one. If it was all flattened out and all rocks out of the way, then it would go faster. The hill will slow things down to. I charge $80/hr , the same as I do for power raking or other tractor work. I will see what they say. I do alot of volunteer work for the city in taking care of our softball diamonds, so Im hoping they will at least give me the paying job.

$80/H sounds great with a 72" cutter. I've been using a 15' batwing for two years and only get $75/H (usually) still some people act like I'm absolutely trying to rape them.

Where are you located? By reading different message boards, it seems prices vary a quite a bit from one state/area to the next. I did a front lawn for a guy who said 80/hr was kinda steep. I told him I had over $30k in equipment i would be using and if he liked, he could call a few others to compare prices. Not sure if he ever did but, I did his lawn the next weekend. When done, the guy still tried to get me to drop $100 off. I am just learning now and have to find out if there are differences in landscape type tractor work and the mowing as far as rates.

I stay away from the public and only do city contracted work for that very reason.
