Anyone have a German-made 1020?

Hello all. I have a 1020 that was made in Mannheim, Germany with a serial number of 020238. It is a 3 cylinder diesel with a loader. I was told that it was built in 1969. It only has 1 key and it is very strange looking. The local JD dealer told me that they had never seen a key like that and many parts for the German made tractor are different than the Iowa made ones. Anyone familiar with these tractors? It looks the same as all the rest. I will be needing to have some leaks fixed, etc this coming winter. I hope that the hydro pump in the front of the tractor can be rebuilt with new seals, because it is leaking. I would really like to have a spare key also. Thanks

I vaguely remember changing my ignition switch to one I bought from NAPA, solved that problem. Your dealer should have most of the parts you will need for this tractor as quite a few of these were sold in the USA. These were built for the US market so nothing to be concerned about as far as being oddball.

Wow. Good news about the pump and tractor! I will post a picture of the key. It must not have the original ignition switch, even though it looks very old. I saw a rebuilt pump on Yesterday's tractors for over $1000!

If it were me I would check the hydraulic pump for pressure and flow to get a better diagnosis of it's condition. While it may need just seals it could need a full overhaul which would be more money for sure. Often the seals go because the tolerances aren't close enough to seal off the fluid.

My mistake, learn something new here everyday. I assumed that the 1020 builds were similar to the 820 builds in Germany.

All 20 series utility tractors for Canada market were built in Mannheim.

Maybe so but I sold 1020's when they were new and the ones sold new in Texas were built in Dubuque,Ia not Mannheim. The 1st JD tractor built in Mannheim and sold new in a Tx JD dealership was a 3 cyl 820 followed by the 3 cyl 830 then followed by the 40 series
