Remove your hitch.

Some places, by law, you have to take the hitch out if it is not being used.

One would think a vehicle should be as compatible as possible to avoid personal injury or material damage to others.

where? i've looked i can't find this law anywhere. i've heard of it before, but never any concrete evidence. it's always a friend...., a guy i know....., my buddy....., you can't block your plate with it, but that's the only law i've found.

the nanny state people that aren't comfortable managing their own lives, and want the govt to manage their lives. those are usually the most vocal crowd in situations like this where people want something someone else owns regulated.

hey wait.

i've walked into the bak corner of a semi once.. i think thay should be illegal unless they are going down the road. you shouldn't be able to park them.

or.. hmm.. i've had to detour my path while walking in a parking lot to avoid running into those wide turn mirrors on large trucks. i think the govt should make a rule making peole remove them when parked.

the stupid examples can go on and on.

somebody was not paying attention and banged their leg.. now they want the world to change to meet their needs. usually what it boils down to... ;)

ever cut yourself using a razor blade? i have. boy.. those things should have safety guards on them to prevent that.. right?

Please cite the state and the statute.

Approach from a sufficient angle so as to pull in without touching objects other than the pavement!

What happens when you find a space that is a lil too cramped because someone is over the line? as a RESPONSIBLE driver.. you PASS that spot and find a VALID one to park in that doesn't make CRUNCH or SCREECH sounds when you pull your vehicle in! ;)

just saying!

Passing up an empty parking space that may be too crowded for the size of your vehicle and keeping a lookout for your own safety seems to be a couple items too far advanced for some people.

All I hear is personal responsibility in terms of leaving the draw bar in...I see it as personal laziness when not exerting the minor effort to remove it. Mine comes out immediately after the trailer has been used.

If your truck lives on the farm and the rest of us aren't exposed to your decisions, fine...Out in the real world, the "leavers" usually have a rusted mess hanging out of the back of their ruck...Not me.

In my work parking lot, things get cramped...It really sux when you have to walk between vehicles and that stupid drawbar is hanging out for no good reason and I slam my shin on it...There are no trailers anywhere..Say what you want, it's just lazy to leave them in, it defends against nothing...

Could not agree more.

As has been said... situations vary.

I tow 4 or 5 times a week... sometimes the trailer stays hitched for weeks at a time.

Some of my tow vehicles have removable hitches and some don't... they are the older style welded in place.

Nothing I own has a load equalizing hitch and only two have square drawbars that are removable by pulling a pin.
