The switch on my HF cement mixer died and I just hard wired it and plug it in to make it go around.

The saw - I would do the same, I am lazy by nature

Yikes. How would you shut down quick in an emergency without letting go of the workpiece or the saw handle, or both?

If the switch has a part number printed on it try Amazon or ebay for a direct replacement.

If you got 12 years out of a HF chop saw you are ahead of the curve. Mine did 5 of intermittant use the smoked itself. The Makita I replaced it with only cost $200 and came with a nice 4.5" grinder. Ya gotta keep shopping the internet deals....
