Any reason didn't you get the factory spray in liner? I've not heard of any issues with them and my new F-350 looks better than the Line-X I had done on the previous truck.

I considered it but the salesman didn't recommend getting the factory liner. Too many problems getting it repaired if the liner gets damaged. The XTreme liner I had installed today is warranted for life except for abuse.

You can see the fifth wheel/gooseneck attachment points in the bed. It's hard to see but the hitch frame looks to be cast steel and is the heaviest frame I've seen. Since the GCWR is 40,000# I figured it would be best to get the factory hitch. I had the same setup on my '12 but didn't realize it was built so heavy.

Do you have any pics of the engine compartment? I'm interested in a 350 or a 450 but I'm worried that routine maintenance will be more irritating than what I'm used to if it's crammed tight. The slanted radiators on my MY12 6.2 gas 250 is irritating me that it traps leaves and large bugs that plug it because they won't fall through.

Routine maintenance is no problem. Spin-on oil filter is easy to change, biggest problem is draining the oil, the oil drain plug points to the rear of the truck and it's hard to control the gush of oil out.
The engine comparment is packed. I'll leave any repairs to the professionals. At least a Cummins has a little more room but none of them are as simple as they were 15 years ago.

Here's a few pics of the rear brakes and axle. I think I'll have a little reserve capacity here. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Nice Rig.

Does anybody know why Ford does not paint some of the parts under the truck? i.e. rusting tie rods ?
I spray painted my 2014 F25o bare metal parts. But for $65 k plus, you would think they could paint the under carriage completely ....

Nice truck... it will be interesting to see who wins the lawsuit between Ram and Ford over what class the F450 REALLY is..

How are the automatic transmissions holding up in the new fords?

I have a friend who had a 12' and the transmission started slipping at 50,000 miles.

The transmission has been a very stout piece since 2003.5. It got another gear around 2011.
