Decided to purchase a Hustler Super Z. I have one hillside in the 5 acres that I mow that might cause me problems with traction. I currently mow it sideways with a 4WD Kubota BX2200 and it handles it with turf tires. I used a demo zero turn from the dealer and lost traction going down the hill or trying to turn around on the side hill. My questions: I was thinking of using the Carlisle 101 Chevron Ag Tires. Anyone using these? And if they do not solve the problem, filling them with Antifreeze for added weight. Would that cause the machine to run rough as my lawn is not smooth to begin with? I saw a clip on Youtube of a guy that swears by the Carlisle 101's but for all I know he is Mr. Carlisle.

I think ag tires might tear up your lawn. Before I went to ag tires, I'd gain added experience with your Hustler and see if its a "do-able" situation. Other option - mow the hillside with your Kubota. Advise given by somebody with a big lawn & no hills.

We ran AT101s on a Cub Cadet 3660 for 10 years and there will be a small learning curve to using them without tearing up the grass but once you get used to them they will do less damage than turf tires because they don't slide around as much. It was amazing where that 3660 would go with those tires on it, due to an engine failure in the 3660 we just upgraded to a Kubota ZD326 and it after using it for a week it will get upgraded to bar tires of some kind before next spring.

I don't know if these are what you are referring to

But they helped my mower.

Strongly considering the 101's for my Zd next year. Turfmasters slide too much on my hills.

Thank you for everyone's input. I will try the turf tires first but will definitely put the Ag tires on before spilling any of my own blood. The grass will grow back. Me, not so much.

I stumbled across a article about Hustlers ATZ & how they increased traction on slopes. One of the things they did was to reverse the bar tread tires. I tried it this morning & I think it helped. I didn't notice any difference on making turns on grass. Here is a link to the mower Hustler Turf

Any thought of why they reversed the tread pattern? I would guess that it might give better traction going down hills. I would like to see more traction on side hill mowing.

I can't quote anything and don't remember where I got the information, but I don't think your suppose to load tires on a ztr. Possibly it is just mine. I think it has to do with the hydraulic motors, but idk.

Before loading them, I'd look into it some more first. Mine is a JD z465.

BTW I like the bar tire idea, fortunately I have very little sloped area to keep w.
