Any one have a JD 10 backhoe? What HP range is needed for operation? I am looking at one on an auction site. Haven't gone to actually look at the unit yet. Photos show subframe attached, looks to be a smaller hoe but has a 24" bucket. Not separate PTO unit.

I would be hesitant to buy a backhoe attachment if you don't know what it will fit. Not familiar with this specific model but would guess this was made for 40 to 50 hp utility tractors.

Most people seem to use 40 to 50 HP tractor for this.

Thanks, but if the price is right and the hoe is small enough, then I can adapt it to my tractor. I was hoping for someone that had knowledge of this particular BH to chime in.

So what tractor do you want to use with it? My 110tlb has a 10' hoe which should be close to the model 10 hoe you are considering.

I have a Ford 1700 4WD, 23HP. That is why I wanted HP requirements, looking for a small hoe. I couldn't find any info online.

That is way too small for the #10 hoe.

TractorData.com shows the 1700 is rated for a Ford 757/758 hoe with 106/140 inches of reach from the pivot. The JD 10 looked similar in size.

I think tractor weight and auxiliary hydraulic flow are of more concern than tractor hp.

Really weight is probably the bigger concern as technically any hydraulic flow will run, just depends how fast you want it to move.

For comparison, my 1070 is 39 gross horsepower and weighs around 3k. It is spec'd to use the jd 8a backhoe.

Well if an 8A is rated for your tractor and if the larger numbers are for larger sizes then the JD 10 BH would be too big. My 1700 weighs in at 2500 lbs. plus weights.
