Jinman's Lift Project

Hi Jim, that looks like an amazing lift! I've never seen a "porchlift" with that kind of height before. Can you give me a ballpark of what it cost to buy something like that? It looks like it must be a 12-foot tall deck! I used to think the attached picture from MI was tall, but I guess everything is bigger & better in TX. Thanks for this great thread.View attachment 387822

I have not had time lately to visit TBN but did see this thread today and had to take time to reply.

I would like to thank those involved in this project for Jim and Kathy, what a great and true example of friendship.

I have read Jim's post over the years and know if we ever met in person we would be great friends and even though we have never met I still consider him a friend and wish I could have been there to help. (He also adopted me in the Texas Spring and Summer thread)

Jim, I look forward to your return to posting. Keep looking forward Jim, can't wait to see you posting again.

David

Like Haoleguy, I only became aware of this via an email and looks like it's all been said, what a great example of friendship. I know no one did this for accolades, but you certainly are a deserving group of people. Beyond that, words fail me.

I really liked the way you got extra help while "lifting the lift". Your picture shows some very interesting positions, especially standing on the ladder without falling off! Where I used to work we had two similar lifts on our building. Since we occasionally get snow the entire lift assembly was enclosed in a Plexiglass enclosure so users wouldn't get wet going up or down the lift.

For lights, you might get some of the LED lights which are used on walkways. Easy to wire in and provide enough light to see the sidewalk without destroying your night sight. Great job with some very innovative thinking. I really like the idea of using the tractor FEL to move the concrete. Saves a lot of effort and you could put it where it needed to be. My next project is to build an insulated shell around my pump since the old pump house won't fit. I may use your idea on moving the concrete since heavy equipment (like a mixing truck) will bury itself in the pecan orchard.

Nice job for all of you and best wishes on your next project.

Well said, everyone. What honorable friendships... :medalofhonor: :trophy: :applause:

This thread captures the essence and exceeds the purpose of TBN.

I am reading some other websites and the difference between them and TBN is astounding. TBN has spoiled me and I wish the other websites would acquire at least a bit of the good manners seen on TBN.

Later,
Dan

Thanks, Dan! TBN was birthed with family-value standards and has been upheld that way from the beginning. Plus, we have a great community of people that make it a warm place to be.

Bird, I can't remember exactly but I thought it was the 600 with several options which also included the gate at the top. Did we get a picture of the model. ??
