My 2006 RTV900 had the bad, rotting, china made valve stems that needed replacing.

The jury is still out on the subject of armor all either helping or hurting rubber and vinyl products. There is plenty to read online about the subject.

I replaced the original Goodyears on my Fergie TO30, from 1952. The sides dried and split finally after all these years. As far as I know, they were original as I had them 25 years and they looked pretty ragged when i got them. I replaced them with tires made in India. Still to new to determine if they'll self destruct. I doubt they'll last 50+ years though.

The tires that I put on my Model T Ford are Firestones, made in Vietnam.

The last several sets I've had lasted about 8 years and about 5,000 miles before they wore out and the sidewalls cracked all to pieces, simultaneously. How they timed the complete self destruct so well, I can't figure out.

I'll use Armorall on hard plastics, but for tires I've recently moved to this 3M product.

Given how fragile ST tires are today, I've mostly used this 3M product on my trailer tires so far - I like the results, so will use it elsewhere.

Good thread OP, I've long suspected the decrease in rubber to be a factor in this problem.

A year ago I bought 2 new Carlisle mud tires for my RTV. One of them is still OK... one has turned into soft rubber...I swear, I can pinch it and pull a a bit off with my hands. Unknown why... but each tire was about $170...grrrrrr

Carlisle seems to have had a lot of problems in ST tires.

When I picked up an old TT, I started a thread looking for recommendations on ST tires.

I don't know the xTV market, but I seem to recall somebody in that old thread saying good things about Greenball's ATV tires.

Because of that thread (Chris's recommendation), I went with Greenball Towmasters, and have been pleased with them - just put at least another 6 hours highway time on 'em this week.

I've got Carlisle turf tires on my PT425. They came one it new in 2001. They still have 95% of the tread, even some of the **** are still on them. 500+ hours. I destroyed one due to operator abuse, but they are for all intents and purposes still perfect.

I've got Nokian tires on my Suburban. 5 years old. Still in good shape. No visible cracks.

I've got some off-brand tires on my 2002 car hauler trailer. Still look like new. However, the trailer is always parked on the north side of my garage so the tires are rarely exposed to UV light.

I can honestly say I've had zero tires crack and I drive em till they drop.

I bought a set of firestone destination at for my truck almost two year ago, the are cracked real bad. First time with this issue.
