I here all kinds of excuses all are B.S. Tractors sat in the sun and mud and winter conditions for 30 years and the tires did not crack. If your tires crack within 5 years go back and demand your money back or a free new set of tires. In Canada by law, products have to last a reasonable amount of time and if not the company has to go good for it. Once a company gets hit with a few thousand small claims, court action and bad media they will stop their b.s. and put a decent product on the market. So help make thing better for everybody and stick up for your rights and hard earned $$$$.
I've done my share of Tilting at Windmills over the years, so, I certainly don't disagree with your sentiments.
Started to Pick my Battles more carefully as time went by. Some of that shift in attitude comes from the realization that I don't have deep enough pockets to realistically expect "justice", some is just personal time/resource management.
I try and pre-screen what I buy, harvesting data on the 'net. If the only thing I ever benefited from on TBN was the Decent non-China trailer tires ? thread I started, then all the 100's of hours I've spent on this site would be worth it. (I've been helped out big-time with many other things... thanks again folks).
Just following the 80/20 rule, I can usually make good buys. If 80% of the people like something, I'll consider buying it. If 80%+ say it's junk, I'll stay away. It's a different path, but effectively arrives at the same Support Quality Products goal, w/o spending the time/effort/money that I don't have in court.
ST tires in particular illustrate the scale of the problem. That there are no significant NHTSA recalls is telling..... let's just say... The House Always Wins.....
