Oh! I thought you had a BH?
Yeah, I have the big one shown, BH 92 with the hydraulic thumb, but I think now the smaller one the BH 77 is all I need for my future use.
As you can see it's a big difference between the two. I went to the dealer looking for small, came home with everything big.
The hydraulic thumb blurred everything from that point on.

That is a significant difference, I've never seen them side by side before.

On the larger hoe, BH92, shown is a hydraulic thumb. From the photo that looks to be a single acting cylinder, unless the retract hose is hidden on the other side???

Curious as I'm in the process of adding hydraulics to my BH77 . . . the "little hoe".

BTW, Waxman, I know yours is bigger than mine. Still scratching head wondering why it would be better to have the smaller hoe. In most apps, the bigger hoe will dig a longer trench before tractor needs to be moved, has more power, and stores in almost the same space as the smaller hoe and will do most anything the smaller one will do - and more. Why even bother to swap . . . or for that matter, the tractor either. You already have it fixed up the way you like it - nice.

AND, it's a Kubota!!

bumperm , Yes the hose is on the other side.
You have a BX24 and a B3350, I don't think you realize how much larger a Grand L 40 is.
The big backhoe was fun, the thumb works great. But for the small tree or bush I need dug up or planted the small backhoe will be just fine. And I can just leave it on the tractor and have a decent size tractor for around the yard.

Now since I don't want to leave the backhoe outside, I made a wooden dolly to store it on.
It takes up the space of a small car in my two car garage. On the tractor the setup is a beast and I don't use the backhoe much, but would like to have one when needed.
Would you put a BH92 backhoe on your little B3350? Shown in this picture below?

This picture shows your size B3350 next to My Grand L

Now the dealer put on L3800 tires on it and it looks like this.

I like that, Its a Grand L cab with the HST plus transmission in the overall size of a Kubota B ?.Wow
Here is another picture next to your size machine.

But the BH77 was not in stock, I was offered a very slightly used BH92 with hydraulic thumb for the same price, only used for a couple of days. (and it was just like new) Just some bucket scrapes on one side only the top picture is the same backhoe.
So I liked the Idea of the thumb, It was a trade off for the size.

OK that looks like this. With the small tires and a Giant backhoe. Now put a BH77 on and It will be B sized But with the best cab and the best transmission.

When it was delivered it looked like this next to my little B3030
So here it is A Grand L 40 my dream tractor the size of the B3030 that I had for five years. I couldn't be happier with the looks. The Grand L cab is top of the line. Nice,

pGAmxrN.jpg

When it was delivered the driver had a hard time getting it off the flatbed because of the smaller tires and the large backhoe. If I had a slight hill in the yard it would have been no problem. The driver said I should keep the bigger tires on it.
So I decided I better get the bigger tires, next day they swapped out the tires. Now I have a Grand L 40 with the largest backhoe attachment Kubota makes and it looks like this.

OlyL3h1.jpg

Which is all well and good Very Nice tractor but its now a full size Grand L 40 and not like what I bought or wanted. So I made the mods and made it the best I could but the size is the size.

Now I drove that B2650 in this picture, its like a popcorn machine compared to my tractor also in this picture, but yet they are basically the same size.

s5WPAxk.jpg

Now I think going back to the small tires and trade the large BH92 in for a BH77 backhoe will end my search for a smaller tractor.
You can't have the smaller tires with the larger backhoe.
But I have a feeling that a BH77 was never able to fit on a Grand L 40 Cab. According to Kubota whole goods it can't be done.

Oh, I'm sure it could be done. More than the average home shop would be up to, designing and cutting 1" or thicker steel plate to make a sub-frame or sub-frame adapter to fit the bigger tractor to the smaller hoe. Might be cheaper buy or build a storage shed for the bigger hoe :x(. I won't leave mine outside either, welded up a cradle so I can move it out of the way.

I might have gone bigger than the B3350, but I trailer the tractor fairly often and weight was the overriding issue. Still, I wanted a cab for winter snow blowing and Kubota's baby cab does the job nicely. Going from open station to a cab, even a "popcorn machine" cab, is walking in tall cotton for me, after looking like the abominable snowman from back blow while snow blowing in the winter winds we often get. Wind changes direction so often you just can't avoid getting nailed.

The cab that I drove was a B2650 not yours with the larger motor, so yours is not the popcorn machine. And that was only compared to the Grand L.
Kubota makes a subframe for the BH77 to mount on a open station Grand L 3240.

This adaptor is what is needed like on the BH 92 hoe for my 3240 cab. This mounts to the backhoe not the tractor, see the double position One for open station one for cab mount.
For an open station you don't use it
So that would be very hard to make.

"You have the big brother to the 3 series I figure yours is about the size of my Grand L40 is. Is it a cab also?"

Actually, my 4720 is an open station (which I'll be selling after I get home) and I recently purchased a 5115M cab. I'm going the opposite direction you are, larger, not smaller. I need to get around to updating my profile.

As a disclaimer, I don't "bleed green". I looked at many brands before my purchases, and narrowed it down to Kubota and Deere. I went with Deere because a friend is a sales manager at a Deere dealership, and he gave me a deal on low hour demo models that nobody else could come close to. I have a Kubota ZTR that is a tank, and intend to purchase an RTV 1120 when funding allows.

I understand.

The hoe to tractor adapter you show is pretty much like the one I have on my B3350 cap to BH77. It moves the hoe 10" aft to make room for the seat as otherwise the rear glass would be in the way.

If Kubota is already selling an adapter for the BH77 hoe to mount on the open station G L 3240, then I would think the adapter would not move the hoe far enough aft . . . though using said adapter would be a good start and would potentially save a lot of work. It may also handily take care of the potential conflict issue of a subframe adapter for the smaller hoe interfering with the larger tractors 3 point hardware.

Ok guys, Remember, you only see this weird stuff on a WaxMan thread.

If I know that bumperm has an adaptor that looks like this on his BH77 backhoe.

WEhsAPr.jpg

and Kubota makes a subframe for a Grand L 3240 open cab that takes a B77 backhoe. There should be no reason I can't have a B77 backhoe on my 3240 cab.

I'm going to see my dealer Ahearn tomorrow and see what I can work out on exchanging the backhoes and tires.
If that works out, then I'm going to have two new rear fenders extensions made up.

If you look where Kubota left off with the tail lights hanging down, Thats saying WaxMan, can you do something with this.
I think they made this tractor just for me to customize it.

eWP11IP.jpg

Right here in town there are two places that have the ability of rolling sheet metal to work the metal in any shape or forum. There just bolted on metal extensions why not make them just a little bit bigger. The bigger extensions will take up the extra space of the smaller tires and give it more of a rounded fender and stock look without the extra space.

Everything else on the tractor is custom why not take it just a little further. Give it a nice custom rounded fender look, add couple of new HST stickers and its one of a kind.

That may be easier, end up with a better tractor, less expensive and better looking then going with a different color and making everything all over again.

Can you see it? The B2650's fenders shown in this picture meet at the bottom of the tail lights. The Grand L , well thats left for me to customize.

Stay tuned and wish me luck.
