B26 loader (TL500) boom cylinders weak

You will have more capacity when raising fel than when lowering it such as to raise front end off ground because of the way cyl are mounted pressure should be the same either direction and if your concern is lifting capacities you have to check pressures. if they are in specs it is what it is.

Thanks everyone for your input. I may have misled....it's the boom cylinders on the Front End Loader (TL500) not the boom on the backhoe. When I said, "lift the back tires off the ground" in an earlier post I was wondering if other people's front end loaders are strong enough to "fulcrum" the back tires off the ground when they attempt to lift a heavy load. Thanks.

There is little to no chance of this happening with the backhoe on. I hope the ability to do this, isn't what you are using as the determining factor that your loader cylinders are weak.

My b26 with foam in the tires will make the rear light when at max loader lift which with a grapple happens a lot. When compare to other 26hp tractors there is no comparison with these b26 will do. I have not checked my hydraulic psi but in last 6 years I have been very pleased with it.

Raising the rear like that is not going to happen and personaly I would not want it to happen. Now as far as a backyard test on the pressure the PRV works both FEL and Backhoe. The mechanic at my local shop used the backhoe bucket to raise the rear of the tractor and said if it will do that it was good. well it did but just barely and not liking his answer I did some research and found out how to check my pressure just to find it about 400 psi low, if you decide to raise the pressure on your prv remember it takes very little, just a thin shim will go a long way and 400 pounds of pressure is noticeable.

I can lift my B26 TLB rear tires off the ground when the FEL bucket gets hooked under a large rock with B/H attached. I routinely move large logs around with clamp on forks and the only way some of them are possible is with B/H extended as counter weight. Tractor stability with heavy FEL loads is the limiter for me, not FEL lift capacity. I'd say if your hydraulic system and FEL cylinders are working properly you need a bigger tractor not bigger cylinders to lift more.

You asked for a backyard test. Easy. Your b26 should be able to lift 1300 lbs. Got anything you can add up to make 1300 lbs and put in front loader? Do a straight dead lift up and if it will lift the stuff then you are good. If relief kicks in while trying to do it, then it's time to get a pressure tester and shims. Bxpanded has a kit for bx models and a quick call or email to Harry can tell you if it will work with b models. I'm pretty sure it most likely would.

Interesting info. Curtis C....any idea if your PRV has been modified/adjusted? Powerstroke....did you have a backhoe installed in addition to the rear tire foam when the rear tires got light? Thanks

I haven't performed any mods or maintenance on the vlv. It had 49 hrs on it when I bought it and it had never been greased so pretty confident answer is no.

My suggestion would be to trade the unit and get one that will lift what you want to lift. It sounds like you purchased a to small unit to do what you want to do.
