No more galvanized bolts/nuts at my TSC ???

This may need another thread - but
Are there any mail order places that still sell by the pound?
AgriSupply seems to at $2.69/lb for all sizes,
Galvanized Hex Head Bolt 1/2 X 10
compared to Hiawatha where a SINGLE 10" cost $2.94

/edit I've got to drive from Ms to DC next week, it might be worth my while to go 60 mile out of my way to pick up a couple hundred pounds of bolts.

Looks like the AgriSupply 1/2 x 10 bolts are $2.69 ea. for a single bolt. I punched in a qty. of 10 and price was $26.90
Its still a better price than Hiawatha.

Did you look at the column labelled "QTY" where it reads "LB"?
Item # Description Qty 1 + Order
33302
GALVANIZED HEX HEAD BOLT 1/2" X 10"
Availability: In Stock - Check Store Inventories
LB
$2.69
I think that means "POUND". Note all the GALVANIZED HEX HEAD BOLTs are $2.69. 5/8 x 2 1/2, 3/4 x 10", etc.

maybee mcmaster/carr?

Nope, pkgs of 1 to 10

I typed 10 for qty. If that's $26.90 for 10 lb's. then how many bolts would I receive for a 10 lb. order. I think I'd be calling AgSupp to make sure if their price is per pound or per bolt. How would I know what each bolt weighs before ordering. If I needed 50 bolts for a project I'd have to know what each bolt weighed so I'd know how many lbs. to order. I think the lb. they show for qty is misleading.

my 1st search showed packages of 1-5-10-25. stopepd searching after that. though did not see weight packages ( per pound ).. etc.

Do you mean you entered the number 10 in the box labelled "Order"?
Why is their unit of measure "misleading"?
For instance I need 1/2" hex head bolts 4.5" long, going to a handy dandy web site: Bolt Weight Calculator | Portland Bolt I find that there are about 4 bolts to the pound. So for $2.69 that works out to about $0.67/bolt, or 15 bolts for $10.09 versus Home Depot, 15 bolts for $23.78 1/2 in. x 4-1/2 in. Galvanized Hex Bolt (15-Pack)-80980 at The Home Depot.

I'm just saying that most people who are working on a project and need to order a specific number of bolts may go to that site and enter 10 for qty. not realizing they are ordering 10 lbs. When I go to TSC or Hiawatha I buy the qty. I need. Sometimes I get charged by the lb., other times its per bolt, sometimes its by a pkg of bolts. Not everyone has a handy dandy bolt weight calculator app on their phone.

Well if MOST people make the mistake it must be ok.

And at the Tupelo TSC they still sell some bolts by the pound, $4.59 per lb.

I didn't check for galvanized, but at the $2/lb difference it could be worth my while going out of the short path from Ms to VA to pick up a couple boxes of bolts.

Grade 2 is usually zinc (or variation) plated, and will corrode in pressure treated lumber. Not the same as hot-dipped galvanized!!
