New (old) vice

Thanks, it is nice to know I'm using a tool my grandpa used.

I have definitely been missing having the vise. The only downside that I cane see of this one is the jaws are more narrow than I expected or am familiar with.

You can have more than one vise. You need a heavy vise also. Mine is some China or someplace thing. Certainly doesn't have the fit and finish of a Wilton, but it's been tough and works well enough. Save room for a bench grinder. A medium grit wheel and a wire wheel are always handy.

I might get another vise, a old Wilton would be nice to have too. The bench grinder is still in its box under the bench, just need to take the time to get it out and mount it.

Might find it here: Yost Vises Hard to read the number, but it might be 108 on your last photo. 8" Machinist Vise, Stationary Base - Heavy Duty Vises MSRP = $2,683.00 Bruce

Wow $2,683 for a vise! I don't think that is the same as mine even though the numbers seem to match up. The jaw opening on mine when opened to what I think is the max "working" width is about 6 3/4 inches. I'll take a better look at the model number today.
