Ha! Yeah, a diesel ZT would be sweet, but that's like $17,000+. I'm going with a Badboy Outlaw XP, 72" cut and 36HP Vanguard. $9400. It should last me the rest of my life. If I was running a mowing business then the diesel would be worth the investment.

Actually not. I maintain a fleet of ZTR's for a mowing business. They have a Scag with a Kohler, and 3 Ferris with one Briggs and the other two Kawasaki. The Scag and two of the Ferris are 61" and one Ferris is 72".

He owns a Diesel Jett a and two diesel trucks but just can't make the math work on the diesel mower.

The diesel's advantage here, would be only needing one type of fuel, transporting one fuel, and storing one type of fuel.

DP,
You work on a fleet of zero turns, work or help out at a marina and transport lots of boats. When do you have time to fly?

I only fly 10 days a month. So far this month I have only flow 3 days. The mowers are actually very little work. Service twice during the season and once over winter lay up.

Homeowners like you and I are the only ones buying diesel. Commercial mowers use gas and fuel up once a day at the station. No 5 gallon jugs.

The trailers and trucks that pull them are another story.

I guess that isn't too bad, when you consider my 4 day work week equals 16 or 17.2 days a month. As I remember (and your user name here) you fly a Diamond. Are Diamonds still in production?

Ha! I have some time in a DA20. Nice little plane. Unfortunately I can't afford my own plane, so I fly a powered paraglider instead :)

Wet rate rentals are astronomical these days, so my GA flying has been severely limited over the last 8-10 years.
