It's been awhile since I posted any updates. I thought I'd share some pics from the current project I've been working on the last few days as well.
House updates
Fascia is painted and gutters are now installed. The only thing left on the outside of the house is a set of steps and a small deck outside of the master bedroom. I've been able to finish all of the door and window trim. The only thing left on the inside is my base trim. Appraisal is scheduled and we should be closing next month.
Current project
We needed a door for the master bedroom separating the vanities from the toilet and shower area. We planned to do a sliding barn style door for this area. I decided to make the door out of the timbers I salvaged from the old barn shown earlier in this thread. Here's a few pics of the door build.
Time to hit the lumber pile. Here's a pile of some of the timbers I had left before starting the door project. The wood is mostly oak and is in surprisingly good shape just under the surface.
Timbers ripped and run through the planer. I tried to clean them up and still leave some of the character of the old timbers behind including some of the pockets and joinery marks. Some of the hidden nails made it rough on the planer blades.
I used a router to run a tongue and groove on the planks. Same issue with nails here. I probably ruined my t&g bit on these planks.
Picture of the assembled door.
Assembled door with a coat of clear polyurethane.
Now I'm waiting for my track hardware to come in so I can get the door hung. I'll post some updated pics when it installed.
