Oh god, here we go again. Don't know why you had to post this to entice another $h!t fest. I know that site says "FactCheck.org", but gleaning this article and some others they seem to have an agenda, and a left leaning one. I could make many comments on the article itself, but won't. Just don't see this as a productive use of anyone's time given it's been beaten to death here for a few years. Peace, out.

I'm not going to the effort to look up a link that I posted before. It isn't worth it for the potential crap this thread will stir up.It basically said that Ford would have taken a loan, not bailout or grant money just to keep an even playing field, which meant that they felt the competition was given an unfair advantage by having Uncle Sugar foot the bill for research and development of new models. But they didn't. They'd already mortgaged heavily on their own so had some reserves.

In 2012, three years after GM and Chrysler were bailed out, only one U.S. automaker owed money to the government..... FORD, to the tune of $5.9 billion in loans it took out from the government at a time when it couldn't get financing anywhere else.... hmmmm.... can't get financing anywhere else but the government... what would you call it?

Did you read my quote? I did not say anything about profits. I stated I supported the American workforce. Take a hard look around your house and see how many items you find "made in china" before you criticize me for buying a truck that actually supports the american workforce. To further clarify, I would rather my money not go to a corporation on the govt dole. I pay enough taxes to support some undeserving welfare recepients, no need to support another one. You do with your dollars what you please, as I with mine. Fair enough?

Did they pay the loans? ( i don't know ).. if they did pay the loans and any interest or fees, then it's not a bailout.. it's a loan. if there were fee's involved, then it's not charity or a grant...

Note.. I don't KNOW the particulars of the laon ? payout? fees? etc. just saying in general.

FWIW, my 2000 Tundra is still my daily driver and logged 276,579 miles at the fuel station this morning. Do that with a truck sold by the "Big Three" and with nothing more than normal maintenance. When I reached 200,000 miles I was afraid to "toot it's horn" because it might jinx me but that hasn't happened yet. I took a loan, not a bail-out, from my credit union to purchase it and was the best interest I've ever paid. My hat's off to the line workers at the INDIANA truck plant that assembled it.

No, the profits went to the share holders, as in just about anyone in the USA with an IRA or 401K.... Nice one indeed!!! :thumbsup:
