Rhino rotary mower previous owner on used it for pasture mowing but let it set with about 2 inches of grass piled up on it so have to repair top deck don't know the size of gear box except is about twice the size of 5 ft. Bushhog one. any body familiar with this brand and what they go for as I'm not familiar with it. thanks

Rhino has been making mowers since the 1950's or so. They've made a LOT of 6 foot mowers. Some heavy duty, some medium, some light. We will need to see a picture or get a model number.

In general, Rhino makes good stuff. Some of their older stuff was legendary, right up there with the old heavy duty Bush Hog stuff.

But like most modern manufacturers, they've developed some light duty series to meet a price point. I've got their 172 mower, which is a current series and is medium duty. I've been completely happy with it so far.

Ok. That's not a Rhino mower. Alamo is a different brand. Here's a link to an operator's manual for it:

I turned mine into a white rhino. You take off the parts and have deck sandblasted and hot dip galvanized. No more rust problems.

For the grass on the deck, get a stihl or echo hand held yard blower. Makes quick work of cleaning after mowing.

You got good quality equipment.

Alamo also owns Bush Hog and others. Rhino was (probably still is) notable for quality products. I think they joined with servis originally for Servis-Rhino.

I used to work at Servis Equipment Company, which made the Servis mowers. Back in approx 1977, we re-branded the equipment as Rhino with the now well known Rhino logo. So it was all the same company, just re-branding the marketing name.

The company (along with Athens Plow) was wholly owned by Austin Products, Inc. at that time. Not sure when it got sold off to Alamo; it was long after I left there.
