Many moons ago I hung out here, under the name goaliedad. I have a question on behalf of a friend. Koiti tractor with a front loader. Recently one of the hoses had a leak and was replaced by another friend. Now the loader will go up and down, but the bucket will not dump, or at least it is a chore to get it to. Once it dumps, it will raise back up fine.

I suspect the line that leaked was the supply line for the dump function, and now has an air pocket. The lines at the cylinder are threaded connections.

does my theory sound right? how do I purge the air? I am thinking crack the connections at the cylinders while trying to dump the bucket until fluid comes out, and quickly tighten them back up. FWIW, I did add fluid to the transmission, which I believe also is the source for the hydraulics.

Thanks in advance

G'day cycling the loader a couple of times will bleed out any air it sounds to me like you have some type of restriction in there maybe a QD not seated properly?

Thanks. I did not see any quick connnects, but will look more closely next time I am over there.

Should purge itself like said with more cycles. I wouldn't be cracking any hydraulic line with pressure on it, good way to get high pressure injection.

thanks puckgrinder. I am glad to hear the air will purge, but will be looking for restrictions.

Pop your quick disconnects apart and see if there is anything stuck in the poppet valves. [Put loader/bucket down and work valve back and forth with machine off until everything quits moving first]. I have seen hoses that were made incorrectly [overcrimped] that acted like a check valve. Just thinking about different possibilities. CJ

I have a Massey with a front end loader. I let it sit a week and now the front end loader wont move. if I move the tractor I have to drag the bucket around. I've been cycling through all the things that I can think of that use hydraulics. I've run it 5 hours without any progress.

I had "weird" actions on my 3-point after doing a hydraulic oil change. Opened the speed valve - wide open. Raised/lowered the 3-point multiple times. The trapped air worked itself out.
