In October of 2009, I set the objective of ridding my farm of Chinese privet. To that end, I have been clearing privet with my chainsaw and brush cutter, treating the larger cut stumps with undiluted glyphosate (41%), and spraying younger privet with a 1.5% solution of 41% glyphosate.
Based on my estimate of the privet population, I had calculated that I would meet my objective when I am 103 years of age if I maintain my current rate of progress.
At that time, I would spray to destroy any new growth from seeds deposited by birds or washed onto the banks of the two streams on the farm.
I now have to redo my calculations -- the pestilence can grow in tree forks.

But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!
