Any word on the proposed EPA "wood burning appliance" restrictions?

It is all very true and Oregon too...

The West Coast Governors got together a few years ago to discuss strategy... if competing business did this... it would be illegal.

We have no burn days in Thurston County... thing is the power can be out for a week during an ice storm... thankfully, we had a fire place insert and small pedestal stove... the pellet stove was useless because the power was out...

I had thought moving to Washington would be different... in many ways it is very much the same... at least Western WA...

It was not all that long ago when President Jimmy Carter said wood is America's natural and renewable resource and he urged Americans to burn wood to thwart OPEC...

Yea Runner, I am thinking of moving to Fairfax CTY Virginia where all the politicians that overtax all the other states reside most of the year (and they represent us?) and keep the taxes low. Income tax is 5% how do you like that being from CA. WA is getting us on the backside anyway. Glad I stayed away from King, Pierce, and Snohomish and their funding of the Sound Transit debacle along with that tunnel downtown Seattle. Yeah, don't get me started.

I forgot the Tunnel is state wide funded I guess. They just announced they want $15B more to expand more.

Standby, here in the great Peoples Socialist Party (Democrat Base) controlled area of Puget Sound are talking very strongly to outlaw all wood burning of any type or for any or purpose, no grandfathering. I suppose the Fire Departments will have their own armed police powers. Burning of land clearing debris is already outlawed and most incorporated cities have banned all outdoor burning. The wood recyclers used to take the stuff for free, but are now so loaded up with stuff with no market they charge same as land fills. There has been a proliferation of companies that chip and grind the wood waste, including stumps on sited to avoid all the hauling and disposal costs. Good business here if you have $1M to invest in equipment and start-up.

Gross exaggerations.

What can you tell me about Seattle Steam's biomass operations?
The downtown Seattle plant features a biomass boiler. In its operation, Seattle Steam is only permitted to burn clean waste wood from approved sources. Of the four boilers operated in this plant, three are gas fired, while the fourth is a state of the art, high efficiency biomass boiler which burns clean waste wood. The biomass quality is controlled by a Wood Fuel Monitoring Plan approved by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency which also permits and monitors emissions from all our boilers. Each wood supplier certifies that the wood provided to the biomass boiler meets the rigorous standards specified the Wood Fuel Monitoring Plan. With this biomass boiler in place Seattle Steam can cut its fossil based CO2 emissions by nearly 50 percent.

Just manufacturers, but without that UL listing, your screwed in case of a fire.... I don't believe you could get your insurance to pay....

Oh, good, nothing to worry about then. Whatever I use would always be an outdoor burner that would send the heat to the house and I can build anything I might need in the future.

Actually if they deem you MANUFACTURED the wood burner (even for your own use) since they deem control over them they could (would) still have you by the nads. They WILL/CAN now FINE you and automatically seize your bank accounts (like the IRS) and do NOT have any court involvement. They said they can act just as the IRS and appoint their own people to investigate you and then have them lever a fine and pull it out of your bank. You can have a say in the mock trial but will not matter if they deem you guilty you are.

Took welding fabrication at the community college years ago... just about everyone had a project they wanted to build... several each quarter built wood stoves... some real nice ones custom sized... one I remember had beautiful wrought iron work...

Guess these would not pass muster today?

Others built custom trailers... mostly utility although one guy built a real nice jet ski trailer out of Aluminum.

I don't believe that at all.

Don't forget, we live in a free country. We can still build one, even if we can't use it!:cool2: 445A

Please feel free to keep your head stuck into the sand then. Might contact them and see what they say when you ask about building your own stoves, be sure to include your homeowner insurance company & the company that holds the lien on your place...

Be sure and vote this week to let the incumbents know your pleasure with they way they are taking your freedoms away.
