Yeah, those 3.73 gears in my '99 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 don't pull my 36' almost 10k camper around along with the 35 gallons of water in the bed along with firewood and/or hay/straw in the bed - depending upon if we are going camping or to a goat show. Nope, it doesn't move that camper at all down the road at 60 - 65 MPH and getting 9.5 MPG while doing it and 19 empty. Nope, 3.73 gears and Chevy's can't do any work at all.

Finally had my first major repair at 15 years old about 6 weeks ago. Water pump went out and left me stranded. $230 bucks later including labor, I was hooked back on to the camper towing it again. Not bad for a truck that can't do any work.

You miss read it. I'm a fan of 3.73 gears. About a dozen of my trucks had 3.73, 2 had 4.10, and one 3.55.

3.73 is just the right match for a SRW truck.

I still wish I could get 3.73 gears in my truck without having to buy the highest trim or some heavy duty trailering package. I get by with the 3.42's just fine but would opt for 3.55 or 3.73 if offered.

As long as I've been on TBN, a site where one of the primary purposes is to share expereinces, I will never understand why arguments start over people sharing their personal experiences. And not only arguments, but people asking for proof, e.g., upload a spreadsheet, of someone elses experience.

Experiences are not right or wrong, they are good, bad or meh. Does the fact I had a bad experience with my 1991 Chevy half ton (rusted brake lines, rusted fuel lines, rusted gas tank, rusted, rusted, rusted) some how make your good experience with your Chevy truck wrong? No. Does the fact you need a diesel truck, or want a diesel truck, make my financial analysis that tells me they are not economical for me wrong? No.

I imagine there are some people who read the arguments, requests for proof, etc., and don't share their experiences because they don't want the hassle.

Wow, those look great! They are almost enough to detract attention from the square wheel wells. ;)
Last week while driving, I noticed a shiny new pickup sitting in a field. It was on a high spot, parked at an angle, with the sunlight catching it just right. Very sharp looking black truck. As I got closer I glanced back at it and realized it was a Chevy. OMG, I thought, how could I think that looked good? I feel like I'm in therapy now, typing this for all to see. :D

Yeah the slightly larger tires do help with those square wheel wells some! I only went one size bigger then stock, wanted to retain my ride and gas mileage best I could. I didn't want a full fledge mud tire or an a/t so these are perfect since they're sorta in between. They aren't noisy hardly at all and ride very good, I was surprised.

Why new tires already? Did you just want bigger?

Was never a fan of the Goodyear Wranglers that came on it and sold them for $400. I wanted slightly bigger then stock but not too big.

I believe that he meant that 3:73 gears are good not bad.
