You are not alone in noticing such changes but again the real issue is longevity and/or efficiency and those issues cannot be determined through anecdote or single engine study.

Giving a man corticosteroid injections will make him feel good almost immediately but it doesn't do much positive for his life in the long run. We all buy into certain things simply because we want to believe they help. Experience teaches however that it is best to look for objective controlled data rather than enthusiastic endorsements. I'm just surprised there is so little data out there. And, when big companies like BMW basically turn away from additives it gives pause.

Are you related to that copperhead dude that sometimes shows up here ? I think they finally circumcised him and shut him up..

Leave these people alone. I know more than you about I'll guess everything, ( including liver transplants) and I enjoy the experiences and witness of a lot of these members who are trying to explain their experiences with different circumstances..

I use additives myself here and there,, so all you other members can include me..

All diesel should ever require is some IPA to pickup moisture from condensation. In cold weather with a batchof diesel borderline on the cetain in a worn low compression, slow cranking engine. A dose of cetain booster may improve starting.

Anybody know what the U.S. Army adds to diesel if anything? Seems they would have a standard procedure that was reasonably carefully reviewed by appropriate engineers.

There is no such thing as a US appropriate engineer to do the job you asked for.. You should have known..

Why do you say that? Have you ever seen the military procurement process at work? From what I've seen there are about a hundred people involved in writing specifications for milspec paper clips so it seems inconceivable they don't have detailed procedures for purchasing and handling fuel.

Exactly. That is why the F-35 is such a turkey . The F-18F was designed by engineers and pilots.

Baloney. The process was similar in both cases. The major difference is that there were significant variants designed from the start.

LOL. You are naive. If they say the car needs additives that are admitting they designed an inferior product to begin with because if they designed it right it would not need additives.

They are turning away because they know the car has a relatively short life unlike our farm tractors which last 3-4 times longer. The rest of the car is going to wear out about the same time as the fuel system so it's not an issue for them.
