Todays cab progress shows the curved overhang roughed in and the first curved door braces built on the bench. Today I am building it more like a jd 4430 cab instead of the square box look.View attachment 398331

Seeing is how the tracks thing did not work I thought I'd comment on another way to get tracks on a tractor.

If you have differential breaking capability I think this could work.

I was looking at the tracked 6 & 8 wheel Argo ATV's and saw that they had a neat addon track that goes over the tires.

I still love tracks !!! but want to wait to invest in a full track project instead of a half track project.
I have over 50 photos saved of cool home made track vehicles. I am happy with the ranch king cat with the v-plow and wing plow without halftracks.
We got 3 more inches of snow last night and 9 inches predicted for tonight :thumbsup:
I talked to the jd Dealer and he said my new jd 758 4x4 tractor is now built and on a semi heading to Michigan
Hand Built Tractor Cab Project today shows me starting to frame in the curved doors. I have sat in the seat a few times and I already love the cab , to heck with how it looks on the outside :confused2:
Now I may end up putting one of my snowblowers on it after all . :cool2:

Safety glass will be cheaper, something to think about.

Tinted safety glass ran $10/SF thru a nearby hardware store. That was chosen because of the scratch resistance. I did install Lexan under the windshield this year to replace heavy plastic strips that became cloudy/discolored. It worked out well, because of the cutting and fitting. I forget what I paid for the 1/8" Lexan, but think it was around $6-$70 for a 48" x 30" piece.

I glued the glass in, but the Lexan is screwed on with weatherstripping between it and the metal frame.

I love working with Lexan , I put a piece of it in the metal break two mornings ago and bent it several times 90 degrees in 17 degree weather and it bent perfect.
Cab progress today I got the left side door built and modified the floorboard and started boxing in the lower cab frame.:thumbsup:
