No argument here Roy, I was just brought up not to tattle.

Well, there are some deserving and talented youngsters who get their time in the spotlight. Hopefully most make good use of that experience.

If people do not report posts that need pruned and there are too many replies, replies with quotes, etc., the 'good' and 'bad' posts become so intertwined, not unlike a hedgerow left untended, it becomes too time consuming, if not impossible, to prune and is closed.

Exactly...if some want to call it "tattling", so be it. And that's what I intend to do.

The trouble is if the mods go to bed, 8 hours later the thread is, as you described, a tangled hedgerow. Impossible to prune without killing the entire plant.

Unfortunately, that's true. However, by reporting such posts, the mods can determine which posters (members) are most problematic....just as was done with those members banned from Friendly Politics, IIRC....then determine if the member should be banned permanently.

I'm hoping any more firearms threads (outside of the Friendly Politics forum) will be monitored by us...and any post that goes political (either pro or anti) are immediately reported to the moderators.
I know I'm guilty as much as others, but I do try to remain on topic....so, when I write "report to the moderators", I'm including my posts as well.

I hope TBN management re-opens that thread, after pruning out the political posts.

That particular thread was about people who already had a CCW permit, so the intrusion of the antis was off-topic by definition. In famously liberal MA there is a saying: "There is nothing less liberal than a liberal."

My Ignore list is a lot longer now.

This was due to both sides, although the initial instigation may have been those opposed to firearms...so, I'll have no problem reporting either side. Hate to do it, but if folks want to talks and argue politics, there's a dedicated forum for that. If some are in the gang that was banned from Friendly Politics, well, I'd guess the next step is a ban from TBN.

Just went to a seminar with a guy who introduced himself as being from "The Center of the Universe of College Football - Alabama." I asked "How many of them graduate?" and he turned red in the face and sat down.

A buddy went to U of F and had a campus job as a football team "tutor". He was given tests for certain courses and his job was to teach them the right answers. So while these players did "study" and did take tests, they weren't really engaged. He said even with this corrupt system in place, some of them still
flunked.

I can remember some athletic-looking guys sitting in the back row of college classrooms, this is around 1970, who never said a word. They would just be present. It wasn't common but certainly happened back then too.

I haven't really looked into it but I have the impression that some universities have created majors designed to keep academically weak athletes eligible.

Right or wrong, whose to say? It is a sweet deal for the NFL though. MLB runs baseball academies here and there in Latin America and the Caribbean to feed their farm team system.
