CCW thread closed due to politics

This was due to both sides, although the initial instigation may have been those opposed to firearms...so, I'll have no problem reporting either side. Hate to do it, but if folks want to talks and argue politics, there's a dedicated forum for that. If some are in the gang that was banned from Friendly Politics, well, I'd guess the next step is a ban from TBN.

I can remember some athletic-looking guys sitting in the back row of college classrooms, this is around 1970, who never said a word. They would just be present. It wasn't common but certainly happened back then too.

I haven't really looked into it but I have the impression that some universities have created majors designed to keep academically weak athletes eligible.

Right or wrong, whose to say? It is a sweet deal for the NFL though. MLB runs baseball academies here and there in Latin America and the Caribbean to feed their farm team system.

I remember in college the teacher called the roll on the first day of an econ course. The professor would periodically call the roll. The starting QB was on the roll and didn't drop. Despite this, we never met the guy, if you get my drift.

Back when Bo ruled Ann Arbor, I had a friend who was a employee of the UM athletic department. He had one job: get a certain high profile running back thru his classes. My friend was a teacher, working on his masters.

I just skimmed the closed thread through post #156 where it was suggested the thread should be closed and found nothing significant posted by anyone questioning carry laws. There were derogatory comments about some states, politics in those states and people who favor different rules. #180 and 181 clearly headed to a political challenge followed by #183. #184 is first comment another side of this topic and then the discussion went south.

If people stayed with the topic without adding comments of a political nature it would still be going. I also prefer if improper comments (outside moderator guidelines) are deleted. When they are allowed to remain another view will often appear. #116, 117 and 118 were clearly political views which could be disputed. We need to be careful when we throw stones.

If someone starts a thread about Pepper Spray, introducing guns in lieu of pepper spray takes the thread off topic.

If you have a thread specific to CCW laws, which can be quite complex and vary by state, and someone introduces their opinion that no one should have a CCW, ditto. And that was the issue.
