couldn't get the episode to play ( slow data) on my end,

Wondering what they found as far as claimed mileage vs. actual?? And how did the Ecoboost fare?

They botched it. They reported the computer avg economy as factual instead of actually calculating it.

It gets decent on the hwy (up to about 22 mpg). On a long trip I can easily avg. 18-19, but you can spend 30 minutes at hwy speed and 5 minutes in town at 3-4 red lights and the mileage drops like a rock and no I do not have a heavy foot at take off's.

I love the way the engine responds and it seems to really have plenty of power etc. when towing. I had just hoped it would be in the 17's.

WOW on your mileage!Im glad I did not pony up $40 grand for a new ford F150.I guess I will keep my 2006 F150 with the 5.4 triton that gets 15 mpg.

The torque converter will lock starting at the 3rd gear so I try to have a slightly firm pedal until I get it up to 4th gear in town. The biggest dinger in mileage is using the brakes as you say. I try to watch the lights ahead and take my foot off the accelerator as much as possible without hitting the brakes. I can easily gain 1.5 to 2 mpg by driving in this manner. Sometimes I like to challenge myself for the 1st half a tank and then I realize it isnt as fun as hitting the go pedal every now and then.

Maybe try this link? Gas mileage: Fuel Proof - Marketplace - CBC News

Havent finished watching yet.. But already Im skeptical. Woman with a TDi is complaining about her mileage not meeting factory targets while driving around with a roof rack lol..

I bought myself a new car this year and of course, my wife took it and gave me hers. I had noticed when I changed the oil or moved her car over the years that she averaged about 33 MPH and 19 MPG. Now that I drive it, I also average about 33 MPH but I get 23 MPG on the average. Every time I have to follow her somewhere, I give up trying to keep up. You are right that driving style makes a big difference. I get a lot more miles out of my brakes than she does too. No surprise.

As the the 2.7 or 3.5 Eco. I had decided when I get around to buying a new pickup it was going to be the 3.5 Eco. I am not sure now. I like the 2.7's CGI block and to want see more data.

Same thing with my wife. She drives a 2013 Ford Edge. Se gets 22 to 23 mpg. I get 25 plus and see 28 on long road trips.

So Dan the narrator explains what a huge makeover at the River Rouge plant (I toured in 04 and was amazed at how very few workers were there, automation rocks) and how Ford is banking on this new machine to keep them on the map.

Also he goes on to say how he HOPES this engine doesn't spit spark plugs like the POS 5.4 and how the ECOroost engine has a little more power than the model it replaced.
 Happy Tuesday, Fred

Ya, can hardly navigate the streets due to the thousands of broken down Ford's with 5.4 motors that have spit it's plugs? It's only the best selling vehicle in the world... I am surprised you can make it out of your drive. I've owned 6 5.4 trucks and never a single issue.

The Ecoboost having only Slightly more power is funny. It has more usable power than any other gas motor out and will flat smoke and out tow anything in its class.

I was having a funny Chris. I should have mentioned all those blown tires from running over spark plugs scattered throughout the streets.
