I was having a funny Chris. I should have mentioned all those blown tires from running over spark plugs scattered throughout the streets.

:) Fred

No, I am the one who gets flat tires. I have had 3 since August. 2 ruined the tire.

So Dan the narrator explains what a huge makeover at the River Rouge plant (I toured in 04 and was amazed at how very few workers were there, automation rocks) and how Ford is banking on this new machine to keep them on the map.

Also he goes on to say how he HOPES this engine doesn't spit spark plugs like the POS 5.4 and how the ECOroost engine has a little more power than the model it replaced.
 Happy Tuesday, Fred

Thanks Fred

I am sure there will be more press and tests on the new Ford F150 and all the other trucks,

including being the self proclaimed winner- by All of the brands :D

Ya, can hardly navigate the streets due to the thousands of broken down Ford's with 5.4 motors that have spit it's plugs? It's only the best selling vehicle in the world... I am surprised you can make it out of your drive. I've owned 6 5.4 trucks and never a single issue.

The Ecoboost having only Slightly more power is funny. It has more usable power than any other gas motor out and will flat smoke and out tow anything in its class.

How many millions of Ford modular engines are on the roads? I have only seen one have a blown spark plug. The guy had plugs put in the week before too. I bet they were not torqued to spec.

I don't doubt there is an issue but it's no worse than GM issues or Dodge issues. Long story short it's not that big of a deal. It's about $80 to have a broken plug removed, my BIL had two. Good thing is they are not due to 100,000 miles so it's a one time thing. Blown plugs are about $200 to $250 per to fix. I have seen two in the hundred or so Mod Motors I have been around. This includes a new plug and coil pack. Pay any more than that and you got taken.

I still firmly believe the F series trucks are the toughest and cheapest to run trucks over the long haul.

That was one of the main issues. They weren't torqued to specs, and with the small number of threads, they would just let loose. However, if torqued properly, the number of threads were just fine to hold them in place. But yeah, when you have millions of vehicles on the road, there are bound to be issues with some of them.

On the tough and cheap any stat's from fleet records or such?

My old truck is said to have transmission problems yet I've had none. Does that mean there are no issues?

Uh- most of the miles on my truck (240k kilometres ) have been spent hauling a 2500 pound camper while pulling a bumper hitch trailer at plus/minus 10,000 pounds so it has been worked. Rust is showing up on the edge of the fender wells and front fenders. So, the question is, are there transmission and rust problems with Dodge trucks based on one sample among many. I also know of no one with a Dodge transmission problem. So, no problems there either I would say.

And yes, the truck is well overloaded.

And it has a very bad paint job.

Roger you and other Ford lovers live in a dream world. OMG some can be so Ford tainted.

Still my hat is off to Ford for thinking out of the box, let's just hope they don't need rolls and rolls of duct tape or gorilla tape to keep their "box" together. I've seen quite a few VWs and Audi with major engine problems when they went to turbo direct injection in 2006, lot's of problems and not cheap to fix. You should see the bills we hand out for repairs.

Also in our area Ford has replaced some turbos on these engines because of salt/corrosion issues and where they mount the turbos near the road. This coming from a friend at the dealership.

Regards, Fred

We are not taking about the ecoboost, we we talking about the modular engine, 4.6, 5.4, and 6.8.

If you wanna talk about the ecoboost though is replacing a few turbos a big deal for the hundreds of thousands of ecboost 150's on the road?
