Selling an 8n, help with pricing

my point was. selling a machine with no hyds may make a 500$ difference in price.

the time it took me to type this message of a phone, i could have pulled the bolts int he side cover and seen if that control arm actually moved!

IE. it takes about 3 minutes to see if you can gain 500$

sounds like you are too busy for 3minutes and don't need the 500$ either. ??

Point taken. I would love an extra $500, of course. I don't have great access to a heated shop, so that's part of my problem. Thanks for the suggestion, and I will pop the cover and see what's going on.

Also, thanks for your Ford tractor expertise in general. You have a wealth of knowledge on the subject and we are incredibly lucky that you are kind enough to share it with us.

In my area people would be all over it. I really cant believe what they fetch. Don't get me wrong but I scratch my head when people pay more for an n series over a hundred series and they plan on working the tractor. Price is ok.

no fun working in cold wind, however if you can stand it. a few bolts and the side cover with dipstick will give you a quick go/no go on the situation.

if you pull the lift handle up and the rod doesn't move. or if you help the rod and it works suddenly. you will know where you are at.

a lil rtv on the gasket or maybee none if it is ok.

When pulling the side cover off it pays to have a pan or bucket to catch any fluid because the fluid maybe higher than the bottom bolts on the side cover.

I dont have a particular year. It is like a buffet of tractors. Just keep an eye out and be patient

Later hundred series had the power steering as an option. Live pto was also an option in early and later hundred series. Combine that with live hydraulics and and more power and it's the cats meow compared to the 8n. The only problem is your 8n might just become a "ran when parked"

I have a brochure. From 55 that is advertising opt Ps for the 00, rare to find one, but can be dine!, later, way more common

Both my '55 950 and '55 960 have PS as does my '57 640. I was under the impression that it was not available for the utility models until late '56/early '57. I know they were making the kits to put on the earlier one. As you say you don't see many on the early utility models, more common on the later hundred series. Still nice to have.

Yeah, the hundred series are much more functional. Live power and hydraulics would be great. I would trade both of my 8ns to have a hundred series.
