What Size Battery--Ford 2600

I have a 1976 Ford 2600 38hp diesel tractor and am trying to find out what type (regular or deep cycle) and size (cold cranking amps) battery I need. Any suggestions?

Exactly. Deep cycle batteries are not appropriate as starting batteries.

Try NH parts- they list cca and battery types for some of their tractors.
Measure your battery dimensions, where the +, - posts are, look and see if your current battery has the info you want on it. Then it is a matter of looking around. Interstate carries batteries for tractors. Call a dealership and ask if they have a battery in stock for your tractor, get him to tell you the group number and cca. With that info (if you can't find in onlline)- you can go anywhere to buy a battery.

4DLT is the correct BCI group number for a 2600 diesel battery. CCA ratings will vary between 800 and 1000. 800 is plenty to crank a 2600.

Yes the 4DLT is the right battery. If you go with a different battery, remember some batteries are too tall and the posts will short out on the hood. A-1 Battery in Gulfport has them in stock.

The highest amp hour and highest CCA battery that will squeeze into the battery box. If you run a new 2/00 "ground" cable direct from the battery to a starter mounting bolt. The engine will crank much faster due to less voltage drop.
