Count me in as a *****. I plowed with a Farmall C for about 10 years. No cab, no heat but plenty of a/c in the winter. The key word here being plowed, past tense. I got a cab now (since 2012) and I will never go back to open station.:)

Bunch a *******, give me the open air and a frozen head. Makes ya look forward to the wood stove and a shot of Jack.

Wow why we gotta be pu***** we are just sick and tired of being rained on snowed on dust everywhere . I can clean up a snowstorm and never have to wipe snot out of my nose. I actually enjoy it now feels more like fun instead of work

Still, I'm slowly embracing the cab and even at a retirement age have decided to get one and it's now on my short term bucket list. I can't wait. :)

Even at retirement age? Heck, that's reason enough to get one.

I've always used a tractor without a cab. I just dug out my older son's Baxter St Parka- good to -45F. He's in CA. I was getting a little concerned about the cold and this winter- but that jacket is so warm. Takes me 3 hrs to get everything cleaned up, house and barn. I just retired. A new tractor is more than I want to pay and with the trees around here, the rops has a hard enough time. I'd probably rip the cab off the first day using it on a low slung limb!
I used to use the pickup, but I went from that to the tractor - easier in tight spots.

Never had a plow on any of the trucks I've owned, but with proper winter attire, an open station machine works fine even with a snow blower..
Like you, buying another tractor just for a cab isn't in the cards for me...too much money for little payback.
However, those of you with cabbed machines...more power to you!

I have always used an open station tractor also and got by fine.
But I would love to have a cab.
I don't foresee me getting a new machine any time soon, but if I do it will have a cab.

You know, there was a time in northern New England when I had a 1975 Chevy plow truck. We got huge storms and plowing with heat, windshield wipers, radio and the dog beside me actually made it an experience I looked forward to. And I plowed a lot since high winds and big snows were a constant challenge.

When you're young, the cold, snow and wind in your face is somewhat exhilarating because you never experienced it before. As you get older you realize the errors of your youth and a cab makes a lot more sense. It helps that the industry is trending towards cabs as standard equipment but eventually almost all of us decide that cabs are a good thing. Not for everyone, but most of us.
