I picked-up a 3-Point Log Splitter. The hoses are too short and the connectors are wrong for my tractor. The existing hoses are 1/2 inch. I am wondering if I can replace the hoses with 3/8" diameter hose? My output is 10 gpm. Also, I have the correct QD fittings for the 3/8 hose. All my other attachments use 3/8" hose size.

I would use the same diameter hoses.
Just use a reducer at the end and use your 3/8 male couplers. :2cents:

Thanks for the chart. This should answer a good number of hose size questions. They make the valves that way for a reason.

Yes, Thanks J_J!
Looks like I need to buy longer hoses with 1/2" diameter. I'll need 15 footers to operate the splitter in vertical mode.

If you haven't ordered yet there is no need to replace perfectly good hoses. Just use hydraulic quick disconnects and order hoses to give extra reach. Say 3 or 5 feet. Then when another piece of equipment comes up with hoses too short you can just swap out the extensions.

I considered this but the (2) five foot hoses plus extra QDs would cost more than the (2) new 15-foot half-inch hoses. I already have the correct QUick Disconnects for my tractor -- which have poppet valve, not ball.

Also, my other hydraulic attachments use 3/8" hoses -- stump grinder, top-link, sickle saw, grapple and tree puller.

Is that the mighty rock river behind you?

Lee,

It is Coaltown Slough, one of three backwater sloughs connected to the Rock.
Flooding occurs so often now that the spot upon which my tractor is photographed is 4 or 5 feet under water at least once a year.
