By the way, the tractor is sitting at their facility, no ordering it out. The backhoe was ordered out from their other facility 20 miles away.

That is a big difference. I would let your dealer know. If you didn't put any money done with your dealer, I wouldn't concern yourself with it. Business is business. If I remember correctly, before Barlows ordered my tractor, Steve wanted the finance information from Kubota before ordering anything to be sure I was serious on the deal.

I would be offended that your dealer is charging you $2000 more than Barlows. He's taking advantage of you if you want my opinion. That is a huge difference in price.

Why did you settle on a deal when waiting for a quote from Barlow's? If you buy from Barlow;s be prepared to wait forever on any warranty work.

You made a deal and now found a better deal. Now you want your local dealer to match up/ renegotiate your deal to your liking? Any wonder dealers try to get as much up front in any deal? It's partly because of relentless bottom line buyers who are never satisfied until they get the lowest price on everything, and then don't want to spend anything on parts/service/attachments, etc. So glad I'm not a dealer, dealing with today's public has got to suck big time. Those dealer's who charge what they feel is necessary to make their needed % of profit get called greedy. Those who refer to them as greedy are the same people who in the dealer's position would be doing exactly what the dealer's are accused of. You can count on it.
Renegotiating the deal after you agreed to it is the definition of being a jerk. You asked, you got answers. If you don't like or want the answers, then don't ask. You can't have it both ways. The saying goes smart people don't ask any questions that they don't already know the answers to.

Did you commit to buying from this stealership, or was he just bring it in for inventory? If you didn't firmly commit to buy this tractor from him, I wouldn't even bat an eye at canceling, and getting the better deal. Yes, he might have expenses, but so does everyone.

If you did firmly commit, but not in writing, I would tell them you need at least $1500 in credit of some sort; impliments, remotes, something. $2000 is lot of money in my world. It probably only costs this guy $750 to give you $1500 in inventory or "prepaid service".

If you signed something; or have a deposit; you might have to surrender the $500 deposit; but anything more than that I would fight.

He's in business for him self; your in business for Yourself; you owe him no loyalty.

Hope you feel better now. Glad you got that off your chest. There are more definitions of being a jerk . I always thought the definition of being a jerk was getting a response from someone who clearly does not read a thread, but places assumptions within a response to it. Im not oblivious to asking questions on any forum, or putting comments on any forum, your response doesnt surprise me. Simply, was dissapointed in the situation that I felt I was in. If your box of cheerios cost 5 bucks at cosco, then drive to walmart and find it for 3.50, are you pleased with your buy? Nothing you can do after you buy it, but if you didnt buy them cheerios YET, well, thats a different story.

Way to much typing, I am working out something with the local guy. My next post will be of some pics of a new machine in my barn!
