Left side below floorboard. It's protected pretty well.... except that front. I will fab something up for there after this winter.

Most plastic tanks can be repaired. The are generally PVC and heat can reshape things to workable shape.
I have used a window caulking called FLEXTRA that is a polyurathane product very much like windshield adhesive.
Windshield adhesive in a tube ,sold at auto parts, at about $10.00 / tube would do the trick.
That stuff sticks so anything and then try to remove it!

I once patched a side hole in a new battery that dropped onto a sharp steel object and that repair lasted the life of the battery. Being a new battery I was desperate to try anything ant it worked just fine.

No they are not generally PVC (not sure I have ever seen that). They are typically High Density PE, and often have additional material layers to reduce permeation of the fuel to the atmosphere (air quality regs, ya know)

PVC is poly vinyl chloride and HDPE is high density poly vinyl chloride as I understand it, same family of plastic sharing some qualities but improved others.
HDPE is more resistant to abrasion and very slippery sharing much of TEFLON's qualities but less costly. HDPE also resists impacts better than PVC.

(not a chemist but that is how I always understood it)
In aviation we used HDPE as the skin for lining skies. Skies were aluminum and landing on snow created friction which in turn caused snow to stick to the skies.
That being given you can readily see that HDPE is ideal for a lining on snow blower chutes non marking skids as well as cutting edges.
HDPE is costlier than PVC and I believe not as easy to mold while PVC can even be vacuum molded on a DIY basis.
Neither ones can be mended with fiberglass but heat works and I get reasonable results with hot glue guns or heat fusing.
A bit of abrasion and windshield adhesive is best.*
You also can heat mold external patches for larger repairs with a simple plumber's torch.

*ever try to remove broken windshield glass from a car?

18.6 gallon. Yes ouch. I thought hard about doing the repair, but the gash in the tank would need a 'boot' type patch over it. Discussion with dealer we concluded vibration would make any kind of patch problematic in lasting. Also getting the right kind of material to patch it, plus time for repair. I need to get this tractor back in service with winter coming.

I do know, I'm going to fab up some type of protective shield for that area. Happened once could happen again.

Good decision!
