The Cummins 20GSBB uses a vanguard engine. You can order them setup for LP or NG. I have the LP version. So far it has been an excellent setup.

Now I am confused a Cummings with a Vanguard (B&S) engine I had no idea they used the same OHV as my Generac. So basically when we talk about a generator's performance we are talking about the engines. Wonder how many other generator companies that use the Vanguard. They must be good engines :thumbsup:

I was told the Generac makes their own engines now in Whitewater WI., at least the bigger air cooled ones. To me they look like a B&S Vanguard clone.

Well I read that they use the B&S Vanguard engines in their generators. I went to Vanguard website which is B&S and saw the engine used in my generac which is a 530 cc 16hp OHV Vanguard. So I don't think Generac is cloning Vanguard engines. Just saying.

With all this buying and selling of companies, and crossbreeding, it is hard to tell these days what you are getting, and the old quality ratings perhaps no longer apply.

I have a 15KW GE Generator that has a Briggs& Stratton Vanguard engine, the owners manual says Commercial Power on the front.

Maybe Generac licenses some engine designs from B&S, then makes their own modifications.
