One of my best finds ever for pure utility is a FORGED WWII pick/mattock made by Plumb for digging foxholes... Love that tool and only cost $2 Like it so much I went online and found a couple more at military surplus stores... Not to be confused with the identical appearing cast ones at the local box stores that I broke already

I ended up picking one up on eBay for $24.00. It's a US marked Diamond Calk dated 1944. I agree very cool tool, looks like Plumb and Diamond Calk made most of the these for the US military during WW II.

I'm going to clean it up a bit when I get a chance.

You're going to find it very useful to have around... keep one in my truck.

There are modern imitations that are cast and in my opinion they are junk... have two that are broken... one is cracked and the other snapped...

Purchased one of these mag light brand LED flashlights about a year and a half ago. After using many Chinese LED flashlights and being disappointedi've tried cheap ones expensive ones and middle-of-the-road ones and none of them seem that great. The mag light is made in USA and they have many models to choose from but my favorite is the XL 50. Hands-down best flashlight I've ever owned I have about three of them and bought one as a Christmas present for everyone on my list last year. All still going strong.

Found this Estwing hammer in a pile of junk being discarded for a scrap drive. Black leather handle speckled with paint. :D Its a classic and a keeper for me. Head design is slightly different than my newer ones.

here are a couple of my recently purchased american made tools- first a Van Dorn valve refacer - found it on craigslist
not sure on the vintage but after i found a manual there are references to refacing model A and T valves..

It runs good and the max run out on the work head is less than .001 using drill stock and a dial indicator and as good on the stone head.

Valve grinder 004.jpg

And here is the complimentary Black and Decker seat grinder i purchased off of e bay- Valve grinder 005.jpg

had to find a new ball bearing stone holder and a new pilot for the stone truing stand to keep run out to a minimum.

Have already finished one of my Pontiac 455 heads (3 angle) and ground the valves including back cutting.

It is interesting to see that virtually everything used for this old style valve, seat and guide repair is all American manufactured- at least everything i have seen .

This is all practice to repair the ( Professional) valve job i paid to have done on my Rhino 554 head...
