Anybody catch the "new" "Alaska Monsters" show? Alaska Monsters : Destination America

Now there is a REAL laugher!! Can anyone other than a 3rd grader think that one iota of this BS has any crumb of "reality"??

Discovery has became the soaps for the evening sofa crowd. I enjoyed the original motorcycle build shows until it became all about the personality contests. The same thing has happened to the car build shows for the most part. I still think some of the builders are really neat people but you have to sit through all the drama for a peek at the kewelness maybe once an episode.

Some of my buds here in Dallas are pretty familiar with Richard Rawlings of Fast and Loud fame. He's been the fool waving behind the reporter on tv forever. The best story I've heard on him was he went into Kim Barr's motor building facility and offered to get Discovery to film a segment there. "They will pay you a couple of grand" he said.

Barr's reply was, "I will lose at least that much in downtime for the shop."

"But you'll be on tv and famous!"

"Screw tv and famous. I want to be rich."

Discovery Canada's "Planet" did a segment on our Ubuntublox. The producer who is an awesome young lady flew into Texas and we were one of the subjects they did segments. The cameraman was a local hire and he ended up being in charge for the most part. He lost my respect when the first thing he asked for was the hero shot. "Hero shot?" I asked. He had me walk out of the Ubuntublox house and stand there looking off with my arms crossed. It took like eight takes, I'm not the hero type I guess. It was about then that I realized the news jockeys I had learned to not trust because they were only interested in soundbytes when talking about Ubuntublox weren't just the ugly side of the iceberg, they were the iceberg.

Don't get me wrong, there are some passionate reporters out there who want to make it real. But just like the bureaucrats who screw up our education system the back office part of media insists upon bringing everything down to their level of intelligence. They seem to think we are as stupid as they are.

Last night was the last show of Colbert Report. Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report offer a little hope for the thinking crowd. All is not lost.

There are so many Alaskan reality shows it's hard to keep track of them. The population of the film crews is greater than the population of the residents! I kinda of like Life Below Zero, especially that nut case Sue Aikens the bear slayer.

You folks are watching these shows all wrong - just record them - when you play them back you can skip the commercials and self promoting segments and watch an entire one hour episode in about 10 minutes. (I know its still 10 minutes wasted) Pet Peeve -> Do you remember when the channel logo was small, transparent and hardly noticeable? Now all four corners of the screen have huge distracting advertisements.

I really enjoy "life below zero" and "Yukon Men" I also enjoy watching the heavy equipment on "Gold Rush"
Television has never been better.
