You folks are watching these shows all wrong - just record them - when you play them back you can skip the commercials and self promoting segments and watch an entire one hour episode in about 10 minutes. (I know its still 10 minutes wasted) ....
That is how we have been watching TV for some time now, DVR and Fast Forward has become almost instant so hour shows are in the 35 to 40 min range (if ya don't pause go make some pop corn, run out the dog and then go pee lol.)
I think TDC (the discovery channel) is one of the better channels IF ya have the DVR. I also don't spend any time on the RECAP shows which at most is 5 minutes if added chitchat over the previous shows. I DID record the "Alaska bush people" but even last season it seems way too "staged" & too much idiocy to care for much.
I tend to watch them as much for the scenery (don't think I'll have ability to ever get out to those places) as I do for the content. I also like Parker S. who gives me some faith in the youth too bad he will have to support about 600 worthless kids his age once the last of us Baby Boomers retires...
We also like Lis on Life Below Zero, still wondering how affordable it is to live alone supporting all that "good stuff" up there. Flying in fuel and much of her food/supplies is got to be some extreme costs so ???
The Logger shows are good for some (again) brainless wind down after work. Recorded show takes 45 or so min to watch. I like Shelby Stanga (crazy LA guy with Jet Boat) OHHA lol. Yes most of it probably an act & sure when cameras off his Cus and him hang out & laugh, though that arrow the cus shot at him missed his head and camera man by a few short inches!!!

Think that all Aluminum 4x4 swamp buggy thing is pretty cool too... lots of vids of it if ya never seen the show.
Watching the life below zero show on DVR now...
