Pet Peeve -> Do you remember when the channel logo was small, transparent and hardly noticeable? Now all four corners of the screen have huge distracting advertisements.
YES! It's not enough that they have to air 3 or 4 promos during the commercial break (including one for the show you are currently watching), but they have to put those obnoxious animated promos and what not all over the screen. I really like it when there is a subtitle, or someones name in text on the screen and they run logos/ads over that so you can't read it. :confused2:

Oh yeah, without DVR there is no way I could make it through these programs.

"Alaska-The Last Frontier" is a joke!

Let's see if we can count the ways:

- They're millionaires (and I'm not talking about the singer, although she's probably one also)
- They operate a B&B on their site (so I've heard)
- They live about 8 miles from a restaurant
- They live about 20 miles from a grocery store
- They live about 20 miles from Homer, AK; they even show it - very briefly - in some episodes, it's especially visible just at dusk.
- they drive their atvs/snowmobiles 20-30 miles one way - for a couple of fish. Yea, that's real survival!

I like that they will have 10 million dollars worth of equipment to produce 1 million dollars worth of gold!
And they always keep showing the gold! At least the Bering Sea gold people are shown selling it!
If I am not mistaken, they will have to reclaim all the land that they are "Re-arranging" which will easily cost what they are digging up in gold.

One guy owns these channels. I think I heard that when the Beatles played on ed Sullivan's show, they had about 6 or 7 minutes of national ads for the whole hour.

What about ax men? that's real right? I think people just like the idea of being disconnected from society, even though most couldn't make it 3 hours

You folks are watching these shows all wrong - just record them - when you play them back you can skip the commercials and self promoting segments and watch an entire one hour episode in about 10 minutes. (I know its still 10 minutes wasted) ....

That is how we have been watching TV for some time now, DVR and Fast Forward has become almost instant so hour shows are in the 35 to 40 min range (if ya don't pause go make some pop corn, run out the dog and then go pee lol.)

I think TDC (the discovery channel) is one of the better channels IF ya have the DVR. I also don't spend any time on the RECAP shows which at most is 5 minutes if added chitchat over the previous shows. I DID record the "Alaska bush people" but even last season it seems way too "staged" & too much idiocy to care for much.

I tend to watch them as much for the scenery (don't think I'll have ability to ever get out to those places) as I do for the content. I also like Parker S. who gives me some faith in the youth too bad he will have to support about 600 worthless kids his age once the last of us Baby Boomers retires...

We also like Lis on Life Below Zero, still wondering how affordable it is to live alone supporting all that "good stuff" up there. Flying in fuel and much of her food/supplies is got to be some extreme costs so ???

The Logger shows are good for some (again) brainless wind down after work. Recorded show takes 45 or so min to watch. I like Shelby Stanga (crazy LA guy with Jet Boat) OHHA lol. Yes most of it probably an act & sure when cameras off his Cus and him hang out & laugh, though that arrow the cus shot at him missed his head and camera man by a few short inches!!!

 Think that all Aluminum 4x4 swamp buggy thing is pretty cool too... lots of vids of it if ya never seen the show.

Watching the life below zero show on DVR now... :D

I like the Alaska State Trouper show just to see the fools that move to Alaska thinking there are no laws.

You mean the fools that the scriptwriters created out of thin air, right?

I watch very, very little TV any more, a couple of hours a week at most. None of these overdramatized fantasies.

I have been watching "recorded" show on my DVR for over 7 years now.... No way I Could go back to live tv.

Alaska the last frontier..... Like other have said it is no survival at all to have all this machinery and equipment to save 500$ worth of meat to survive the winter.....

But I think it is somwhat not bad to watch.....
